Basic Function
Job Duties
(functions considered essential as defined by ADA)
- Utilizes corrosion related testing equipment and methods to evaluate company owned pipelines, tanks, and facilities for corrosion and corrosion related defects and adequacy of the cathodic protection program
- Develops and implements plans to remedy any deficiencies
- Measurement and troubleshooting of rectifiers used in Cathodic Protection
- Completes cathodic protection corrosion surveys
- Interprets internal corrosion data collected from coupons and liquid samples
- Maintain records for all surveys, tests, work progress reports in accordance with state, federal and company policies
- Conduct proper atmospheric inspections on company owned and operated assets in accordance with state, federal, and company policies
- Expected to participate in PHMSA, state and internal audits
- Expected to participate in corrosion related local correlation committee meetings
- Expected to participate in NACE functions, including local chapter meetings and area conferences
- Assist with installation of corrosion mitigation systems
- Assist in coordinating all maintenance of the cathodic protection/corrosion prevention system in assigned area
- Liaison with operations from a corrosion related technical aspect and assist when necessary
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their manager, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
Experience
A minimum of five years on-the-job experience required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
On-the-job pipeline construction and/or pipeline operations experience and a background in electrical theory is preferred. Use of MC Miller GX field computer and Mc Miller Proactive software.
Education Level
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION
A minimum NACE Level I Cathodic Protection Tester Certification or NACE Corrosion Technologist Certification. Bachelor’s degree.
