The Non-CDL Truck Driver safely transports equipment between dealership locations, customer sites, and manufacturer facilities using vehicles that do not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). This position supports the Service and Sales departments by ensuring equipment is delivered safely, on time, and in good condition. The driver is responsible for maintaining required documentation, completing vehicle inspections, following safety regulations, and providing professional customer service during deliveries and pickups.
Responsibilities
Safely transport equipment between dealership locations, customer sites, and manufacturer facilities using assigned non-CDL vehicles.
Support the Sales and Service departments with equipment deliveries and pickups as scheduled.
Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete required safety checks before operating assigned vehicles.
Maintain accurate delivery records, mileage, receipts, signatures, and other required documentation.
Comply with applicable DOT regulations (when applicable), OSHA requirements, and company safety policies.
Maintain any licenses, certifications, or qualifications required for assigned driving responsibilities.
Promptly report vehicle maintenance concerns, mechanical issues, or repair needs.
Keep assigned vehicles clean, organized, and in good operating condition.
Accurately record work time and mileage associated with assigned deliveries.
Provide customers with basic equipment operating instructions when appropriate.
Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers to support efficient transportation operations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge
High school diploma or GED preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle being operated with an acceptable driving record.
Minimum of one year of delivery driving or commercial driving experience preferred.
Ability to safely operate trucks, trailers, and equipment within assigned licensing requirements.
Ability to safely load, secure, transport, and unload equipment.
Ability to complete required inspections, delivery documentation, and records accurately.
Good verbal communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with transportation coordinators, customers, and dealership personnel.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Ability to follow written instructions, schedules, and established procedures.
Dependable, organized, and accountable for assigned vehicles and deliveries.
Basic mechanical awareness to recognize and report vehicle or trailer maintenance concerns.
Sit for extended periods while operating vehicles.
Lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to approximately 75 pounds.
Climb on and off trucks, trailers, and equipment, including climbing heights of approximately 6 to 13 feet.
Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and secure equipment during loading and unloading.
Use hands and fingers to operate vehicle controls and secure cargo.
Maintain the visual acuity and physical ability necessary to safely operate company vehicles.
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
Regularly exposed to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
Frequent exposure to dust, dirt, noise, vibration, and moving vehicles and equipment.
May work around heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and other machinery.
Requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required by company policy and applicable safety regulations.
Frequent travel to customer locations, dealership facilities, and manufacturer locations to transport equipment.
