Work setting: acute care emergency department with trauma capabilities
This travel assignment supports triage, treatment and support for trauma and emergency patients of all ages in an acute care setting. If designated as a trauma site, hours for triage and treatment of trauma patients are included, while hours related to the administration and support of the Trauma program (eg, trauma registry, trauma coordinators) are not included in this role.

Responsibilities
- Triage, assess, and initiate care for patients presenting to the ER, prioritizing by acuity
- Administer medications, start IVs, monitor patient status, and document in the medical record
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing teams, respiratory therapists and radiology to implement treatment plans
- Provide age-appropriate care for trauma and non-trauma emergencies; support stabilization and transfer as needed
- Monitor patient safety, comfort and confidentiality; respond to rapid response calls
- Participate in shift handoffs, ensure accurate documentation, and assist with continuous quality improvement
Requirements
- Active California Registered Nurse license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced ER/acute care environment and work 12-hour shifts
- Prior emergency department or trauma care experience preferred
- Strong communication, teamwork and critical-thinking skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in high-acuity situations
