As part of our National Building Engineering Services team, you'll play a key role in leading the development of mechanical engineering solutions that are efficient, resilient and built for the future.
The Opportunity
We're growing our Building Engineering Services team in Melbourne and Sydney and are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the delivery of technically challenging projects across our expanding Data Centre, Mission Critical and Building Engineering portfolio.
This opportunity is ideally suited to an experienced consulting engineer who enjoys taking ownership of design delivery, solving complex technical challenges and contributing to high-quality engineering outcomes across the full project lifecycle.
Working closely with our national mechanical team, you'll play a leading role in project delivery from concept through to construction, developing practical and innovative HVAC and building services solutions within a multidisciplinary design environment. You'll operate with a high degree of autonomy while supporting the growth and technical capability of the broader team.
In This Role You Will
- Lead the delivery of mechanical design packages from concept through to construction delivery
- Perform complex HVAC engineering calculations, system selection and design development
- Prepare and review coordinated engineering documentation, specifications and technical reports
- Take ownership of the delivery of compliant, high-quality mechanical building services solutions
- Coordinate effectively across disciplines to resolve design interfaces, risks and technical challenges
- Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, clients and specialist consultants across multidisciplinary projects
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to developing engineers and designers
- Participate in and contribute to technical reviews, design quality processes and best-practice initiatives
- Support site inspections, contractor queries and construction phase services
- Contribute to project planning, resource coordination and successful project delivery outcomes
- Support continuous improvement and technical excellence across the national mechanical team
What We're Looking For
- Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer
- Typically 6-12 years' experience in a consulting engineering environment
- Demonstrated experience delivering mechanical building services design projects with minimal supervision
- Strong HVAC design capability and advanced technical problem-solving skills
- Experience preparing and reviewing engineering reports, specifications and technical documentation
- Strong understanding of Australian codes, standards and regulatory requirements, including NCC and AS1668
- Proven ability to coordinate across disciplines and manage design interfaces
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and collaboration skills
- Proactive approach with a commitment to technical excellence and quality outcomes
- Interest in developing broader project delivery, commercial awareness and leadership capability
Highly Regarded
- Data Centre or Mission Critical project experience
- Experience undertaking HVAC heat load calculations and system sizing, ideally using Camel software
- Experience with pipe sizing and ductwork design for HVAC systems
- Experience with Revit, Navisworks, ACC or other design coordination platforms
- Exposure to health, defence, education, industrial, commercial, sports and aquatic or mixed-use projects
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status
