Position Overview

The Facilities Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the facility while providing a high-quality working environment for employees. This position uses established facilities management best practices to effectively manage building systems, resources, services, vendors, projects, and processes in support of business and manufacturing operations.

The Facilities Manager will take a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, facility reliability, safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement while ensuring facility resources are managed effectively and cost efficiently.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive facility management program, including preventative maintenance programs and equipment and building life-cycle requirements.
  • Conduct and document regular facility inspections, identify potential issues, and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensure facility operations comply with applicable health and safety standards, OSHA requirements, environmental regulations, industry codes, and company policies.
  • Coordinate and oversee facility moves, renovations, construction projects, and other facility improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of facility equipment, building systems, and infrastructure to support safe and reliable operations.
  • Plan and manage facility services, including reception, security, cleaning/janitorial services, waste disposal, parking, and other site-related services.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotes from vendors, contractors, and suppliers and manage contracts to ensure quality, service, and cost effectiveness.
  • Prepare, manage, and track the facilities budget, including monitoring expenses, invoices, and payments and providing regular reporting to leadership.
  • Partner with Human Resources and other internal stakeholders to support OSHA compliance and workplace safety requirements.
  • Ensure the security of the facility and coordinate responses to alarms, building system failures, utility interruptions, and other facility-related issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve facility reliability, safety, efficiency, and overall cost effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of facilities management principles and best practices within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of project management, business administration, financial practices, procurement, and contract management.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems and general building infrastructure.
  • Sound knowledge of OSHA standards, workplace safety programs, environmental regulations, and applicable industry requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendors, contractors, facility projects, budgets, and competing operational priorities.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with standard business applications.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with sound judgment.
  • Customer-service oriented with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and organizational levels.
  • Adaptable, dependable, and capable of effectively managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related facilities experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment, and/or relevant training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing facility maintenance, construction or renovation projects, contractors, budgets, and regulatory compliance is strongly preferred.
