Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Operational Risk, the Operational Risk Analyst supports the first line of defense within the COO organization by identifying, assessing, monitoring, and managing operational risks across the Bank’s products, services, business processes, systems, third-party relationships, and client channels. As the Bank expands its offerings and delivery channels, the role supports the execution of the Operational Risk Management Framework through risk assessments, issue management, incident reporting, remediation tracking, and management reporting. The role works closely with COO business stakeholders to strengthen controls, identify process gaps, support business initiatives, and promote effective risk management practices while helping ensure alignment with applicable regulatory, policy, and governance requirements.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support first-line operational risk management across the COO organization, including products, services, processes, systems, third-party relationships, and client channels.
  • Assist with risk and control assessments, including Business Unit Risk Assessments and Risk Mitigation Action Plans.
  • Identify, assess, and monitor operational risks, control gaps, process weaknesses, and emerging issues.
  • Support issue management, remediation tracking, incident reporting, root cause analysis, and timely escalation.
  • Support business initiatives, product/channel expansion, system changes, and process improvements from an operational risk perspective.
  • Help ensure alignment with applicable regulatory, policy, and governance requirements, including OSFI, FCAC, AML/ATF, privacy, consumer protection, third-party risk, operational resilience, and business continuity expectations.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess impacts to mortgage lending and servicing operations.
  • Prepare risk reporting, key risk indicators (KRIs), regulatory issue tracking, and management reporting.
  • Coordinate documentation and evidence for audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory examinations, including remediation tracking.
  • Provide training and guidance to stakeholders on operational risk and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications & Experience:

Degrees, Diplomas & Certifications:

The position requires a university degree or equivalent

Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job:

  • The position requires at least 3 years’ experience working in a Banking environment
  • Experience in change management, business continuity, control analysis and risk governance in a non-prime mortgage environment
  • Solid understanding of OSFI, FCAC regulations and guidelines relating to mortgage lending/servicing
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Prioritize multiple demands using effective time management skills
  • Detail oriented with a high level of intellectual curiosity and strong sense of ownership
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and with the team
  • Comfortable using multiple system platforms simultaneously; Proficient in MS Office and working knowledge of Salesforce platforms
  • Bilingual candidates preferred
