About this role
Staff Software Engineer, Product Security
Join Harvey's Product Security team to shape how security is embedded into our AI platform from the ground up. You'll own critical security features, drive high-leverage initiatives across the engineering organization, and mentor teams to make the secure path the easiest path. This role blends hands-on technical depth with cross-functional leadership at a pivotal moment as Harvey scales rapidly across 58+ countries.
What you'll do
- Establish and evolve the engineering organization's security posture with standards that scale as Harvey grows.
- Partner with Product Engineering, Infrastructure, and Platform teams to embed secure design principles at every stage of development.
- Own and review security-critical code across key product areas, including authentication and access control.
- Architect secure-by-default libraries and tools that make the secure path the easiest choice for developers.
- Lead mitigation strategies during security incidents, coordinating cross-functional response efforts.
- Mentor engineers and raise the security bar across teams through code reviews, design reviews, and technical guidance.
What Harvey is looking for
- 8+ years of experience in product security, application security, offensive security, or security-focused software engineering.
- Proven track record of identifying and remediating software vulnerabilities through CVEs, bug bounties, published research, or professional experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional security initiatives and influence engineering teams without direct authority.
- Experience mentoring engineers and elevating security practices across software engineering teams.
- Strong programming skills with a history of shipping high-quality, production-grade software.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate security risks into clear business terms for non-security stakeholders.
- Experience leading complex projects and delivering measurable security improvements across an organization.
