Staff Software Engineer, Frontend
About this role
Staff Software Engineer, Frontend
At Harvey, we're transforming legal and professional services through frontier AI and enterprise-grade platforms. As a Staff Software Engineer, Frontend, you'll lead end-to-end UI projects that define how lawyers and organizations collaborate with AI across our Assistant, Vault, Workflows, and Microsoft Office integrations. This is a chance to build polished, high-performance interfaces at a generational company with strong product-market fit and global scale.
What you'll do
- Lead end-to-end UI features from scoping and design reviews through implementation, launch, and iteration across Harvey's core products and new initiatives.
- Build polished, high-performance React + TypeScript interfaces using TailwindCSS with crisp interactions, resilient state management, and strong error handling.
- Architect reusable components and patterns while evolving our internal design system.
- Optimize frontend performance at scale and raise the bar on reliability and security UX for enterprise and regulated environments.
- Collaborate tightly with design, product, and backend teams to shape APIs and UX for long-running jobs, streaming results, and tool-calling workflows.
- Mentor peers through thoughtful code reviews, documentation, and refinement of frontend standards and developer experience.
What Harvey is looking for
- Extensive frontend development experience with React and TypeScript, including building large-scale, production-ready UI components and features.
- Strong proficiency with CSS (we use TailwindCSS) and experience with frontend testing (unit/integration) and performance optimization.
- Track record of shipping highly intuitive products with strong attention to detail, ideally in fast-growing SaaS environments.
- Experience at startups and scaleups, with demonstrated ability to leverage PWA technologies.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills with clear written and verbal communication.
