About this role

Position Summary
Hanwha Defense USA is seeking a highly experienced Turret Armament Lead to serve as the technical authority for turret weapon system integration for an Army ground vehicle program. This senior individual contributor role covers all aspects of turret armament engineering, including primary and secondary weapons, ammunition handling, recoil systems, turret drive hardware, stabilization components, and mechanical integration. The Turret Armament Lead partners with fire control, mechanical, electrical, systems, safety, and test teams to deliver a fully integrated, safe, and high‑performance turret armament solution that meets Army operational and reliability requirements.

Key Responsibilities
 • Lead engineering and integration of primary turret weapons, including cannons, autocannons, weapon mounts, recoil systems, drives, and stabilization hardware.
 • Oversee integration of secondary armament systems such as coaxial weapons, machine guns, and auxiliary turret-mounted devices.
 • Develop and manage turret armament system architectures, interface definitions, mechanical layouts, and integration strategies.
 • Coordinate the integration of armament subsystems with fire control systems, vehicle network architecture, power distribution, vetronics, safety systems, and turret mechanical structures.
 • Support and lead testing activities including mechanical subsystem tests, stabilization and drive tests, weapon firing events, live-fire range evaluations, environmental and durability testing.
 • Work closely with fire control engineering to synchronize weapon behavior, stabilization performance, ballistic characteristics, and fire control interfaces.
 • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to ensure proper integration of drives, actuators, sensors, mounts, harnessing, and structural components.
 • Evaluate armament system performance, reliability, maintainability, and safety in alignment with Army turret and armament guidelines.
 • Conduct root-cause analysis and develop corrective actions for armament integration issues, weapon system failures, or turret-related anomalies.
 • Generate and maintain technical documentation including design artifacts, interface control documents, analysis reports, and test plans.
 • Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, Army working groups, and system integration discussions.
 • Ensure turret armament solutions comply with applicable Army armament integration principles and defense-industry engineering practices.

Required Qualifications
 • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
 • Extensive experience with turret armament systems, weapon integration, recoil systems, turret mechanics, or related military weapon subsystems.
 • Strong knowledge of weapon system behavior, stabilization hardware, armament safety considerations, and turret structural integration.
 • Ability to develop and interpret armament system requirements, performance criteria, interface specifications, and subsystem-level designs.
 • Experience with mechanical and firing tests including turret drive tests, stabilization evaluations, and live-fire events.
 • Strong collaboration skills with fire control, mechanical, electrical, systems, safety, and test teams.
 • Proven analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities.
 • U.S. citizenship required; security clearance preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
 • Experience with turret armament systems on tracked or wheeled military ground vehicles.
 • Background in weapon mounts, recoil mitigation systems, ammunition handling solutions, or turret structural design.
 • Familiarity with Army turret integration practices, armament guidelines, and weapon system certification processes.
 • Experience with simulation, mechanical modeling tools, or hardware-in-the-loop test environments for turret systems.
