Technical Publications Lead

Position Summary
Hanwha Defense USA is seeking a highly skilled Technical Publications Lead to develop, integrate, and deliver comprehensive technical documentation in support of an Army ground vehicle program. This individual contributor role requires close collaboration with engineering, logistics, human factors, safety, and program management teams to produce accurate, compliant, and timely technical publications across all vehicle subsystems. The ideal candidate brings deep familiarity with U.S. Army technical data standards, vehicle system architectures, and defense-industry publication practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the development, authoring, and integration of technical manuals and publications for operator, maintainer, and logistician audiences.
• Create and maintain all required publication types, including: Operator Manuals, Maintenance Manuals, Troubleshooting Guides, Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), Illustrated Parts Breakdown (IPB), training documentation, and safety-related WARN/CAUTION/NOTE compliance content.
• Ensure all documentation meets applicable U.S. Army and industry standards, including DI-MISC-80508B, MIL‑STD‑40051, S1000D, GEIA‑STD‑0007, MIL‑PRF‑32216, and other TACOM/PEO requirements.
• Coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams to gather technical data, validate procedures, and ensure accuracy across mechanical, electrical, electronic, power distribution, software, and vetronics subsystems.
• Steward the publication lifecycle including authoring, configuration management, quality assurance, verification, and government acceptance processes.
• Translate engineering design data, schematics, models, and test results into clear, compliant, and user-focused technical instructions.
• Participate in design reviews, logistics working groups, and technical interchange meetings to ensure publications remain aligned with vehicle evolution and sustainment needs.
• Manage content in structured authoring environments and digital publication systems for IETM delivery.
• Support internal and external audits, internal reviews, and Army evaluation events to demonstrate publication accuracy and compliance.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications, Engineering, Logistics, or related field.
• Extensive experience developing technical publications for U.S. Army ground systems or other defense platforms.
• Proficiency with S1000D authoring tools, CSDB management, and IETM development environments.
• Working knowledge of MIL‑STD‑40051, GEIA‑STD‑0007, MIL‑PRF‑32216, and related defense technical documentation standards.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, system architectures, wiring diagrams, and maintenance procedures.
• Strong cross-functional communication skills with the ability to collaborate with engineers and program stakeholders.
• U.S. citizenship required; security clearance preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting tracked or wheeled combat vehicles, tactical vehicles, or mission systems.
• Background in logistics support analysis, provisioning, or reliability/maintainability data integration.
• Familiarity with Army sustainment processes, TACOM requirements, and acquisition documentation workflows.
• Experience developing publications within a model-based engineering environment.

The salary range listed for this position represents a good faith estimate of the base pay we reasonably expect to offer for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant skills/experience, education and certifications, market conditions, geographic location and internal pay equity. In addition to base salary, employees may be eligible for discretionary annual bonuses, benefits, and other forms of compensation as part of Hanwha Defense USA's total rewards package.
