Under the general direction of the Director of Marketing and Media, the Marketing Specialist, University Career Services (UCS) will be responsible for developing and implementing creative strategies designed to promote and elevate programs and services offered by UCS. This position will focus on updating and creating all marketing collateral used to promoting UCS’ presence across all Georgia State campuses. Key responsibilities include managing the department's website to ensure it is engaging and up-to-date, as well as working closely with other Marketing Specialists (University Housing, Student Engagement, Health & Wellness) within the Division to help foster collaboration and communication with their respective units. This role requires a creative and organized individual who is passionate about helping university students achieve their career goals as well as someone who is self-motivated to effectively communicate and work across different teams to achieve Division-wide marketing and communications goals.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO 

Content Creation (65%25 of position)
•    Develops and implements a comprehensive marketing plan to drive awareness, interest, and participation in UCS programs, initiatives, and events.
•    Performs market research, analyzes data, and generates reports. 
•    Writes, edits, designs, and produces all creative promotional collateral. 
•    Coordinates the production of videos. 
•    Manages social media and all other media. 
•    Uses contemporary computer-based tools such as Adobe Creative Suite to accomplish tasks.
Marketing Campaigns (15%25 of position)
•    Monitors all marketing related processes; implement improvements to enhance marketing effectiveness. 
•    Ensures effectiveness of marketing plan by setting objectives, regularly measuring results, and developing innovative methods to broaden reach of messaging strategies. 
•    Reports on marketing success and opportunities.
Website Management (10%25 of position)
•    Coordinates with colleagues to update web content. 
•    Uses multiple formats to market events, social media, and related materials. 
•    Produces reports based on data collected on marketing initiatives. 
Department Participation (10%25 of position)
•    Actively participates in UCS events and actives.
•    Other duties as assigned.
 



Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Journalism, or Marketing and three years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications: 

  •  Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills
  •  Proficiency with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) and familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG/ADA).
  •  Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to work effectively with diverse constituencies and across administrative lines.
  •  Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Google products, editing videos, and other marketing software.
  •  Experience in higher education setting with proven record of increasing marketing efforts and outreach.
  •  Experience creating a social media campaign with a proven record of increasing reach and following.
  •  Knowledge of SEO best practices and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics).
  •  Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Google products, editing videos, and other marketing software.
