The Building Services Department is seeking (1) Groundskeeper II to join the already awesome team, taking the Building Services Department to the next level of excellence!

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The ideal candidate performs groundskeeping and landscape maintenance duties. Serves as a lead person in work groups and may help train/orient Groundskeeper I employees on methods and procedures. In addition to supporting the department Groundskeeper II, assignments will generally fall into one of the following groupings, although overlapping of duties may occur as needed:

  • Care for the campus grounds includes mowing lawns, watering flowers and shrubbery, trimming trees and bushes, etc. 
  • Walks the assigned campus area, collecting and removing trash from campus grounds. 
  • Plants trees, flowers, and bushes; rakes and bag leave. 
  • Sprays lawns, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides. 
  • Operates the groundskeeping and maintenance equipment, such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and pressure washers, for cleaning campus fountains, outdoor furniture, and other campus areas. 
  • Performs the maintenance on groundskeeping and/or landscaping equipment, such as lawnmowers, spreaders, and snow removal equipment. 
  • Sharpens tools, such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears. 
  • Assist in plant setups in designated areas for special meetings and events. 
  • Assists in inclement weather duties, such as clearing snow from sidewalks, parking lots, etc. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 
  • Required to operate various types of vehicles including, but not limited to ATV'S, golf carts, LSV's, full size light-duty pickup trucks, medium-duty trucks including box trucks and stake bodies. In addition, towing or trailers may be required which includes open back and enclosed cargo styles, as well as other single axle types and ATV designed trailers.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $32,400 - $38,900. Salary offers will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications in relation to the Minimum Hiring Standards. Candidates earlier in their careers are typically offered salaries closer to the minimum of the hiring range, while those with more advanced or relevant experience may be considered for compensation at or above the hiring range.



Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED and one year of groundskeeping experience

  • A valid Georgia driver's license is required.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

  • Some knowledge of properly caring for plants, trees, and shrubbery.
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to operate hand tools and equipment used in groundskeeping, such as lawnmowers, weed-eaters, shears, trimmers, etc.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Experience in landscaping, particularly in large-scale projects, is preferred.
