We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior People & Culture Operations Manager to join the People team at Grover, full-time and minimum 3 days per week (Tuesday-Thursday) at our Berlin HQ.
Reporting directly to our Director of People & Culture, you would lead our People admin & operations team and own the operational backbone of our People function. This role is the go-to owner for payroll, HRIS, people reporting, and process documentation, making sure the fundamentals run smoothly, accurately, and at scale as the company grows.
šÆ What you will contribute:
-
Team Leadership & Employee Lifecycle:
- Manage and develop 1-2 People Admin/Operations team members, setting priorities and ensuring accurate, timely delivery

- Own end-to-end payroll (GmbH & EOR) with finance and external providers
- Manage payroll compliance (tax, social security, benefits) across jurisdictions
- Handle payroll audits, reconciliations, and year-end processes

- Drive system improvements, automations, and new features
- People Reporting & Analytics:
- Own people reporting (headcount, turnover, DEI, org changes) and dashboards for leadership
- Handle ad-hoc data requests from People, Finance, and Leadership
- Documentation & Process:
- Own People policies, SOPs and employee-facing guides, keeping them current with legal/regulatory changes
- Standardize and improve People ops processes for efficiency and scale

- Ensure compliance with local labor law and data protection (GDPR)
- Automate manual processes and improve employee experience
- Partner with Finance, Legal, and IT on audits and system projects
š¤ What you bring:
- 4+ years in People/HR Operations, including 1-2 years in a leadership/people management role within German-based companies (100+ local employees). Startup or scale-up experience is a strong plus.
- Hands-on experience managing and running German payroll processes - whether in-house or seamlessly alongside external service providers.
- Solid working knowledge of German labor law, data privacy (GDPR), and payroll compliance requirements.
- Strong proficiency with HRIS platforms (e.g., Personio, HiBob, Workday, BambooHR) and a forward-thinking mindset using AI tools and automation to streamline workflows, eliminate manual admin, and scale HR operations.
- Comfortable building reports, auditing data integrity, and translating People metrics into meaningful operational insights.
- A natural knack for designing, documenting, and scaling clear processes to turn complexity into structured workflows.
- Exceptional attention to detail, maintaining strict accuracy and confidentiality with sensitive employee data.
- Ability to break down complex administrative, legal, or payroll topics into simple, digestible guidance.

Company at a glance
Grover is the global leader in technology rentals, enabling people and empowering businesses to subscribe to tech products monthly instead of buying them.
Founded in 2015 by Michael Cassau, Groverās mission is to make exceptional technology more accessible, because technology is a basic human right. With Grover and Grover Business, subscribers and companies get access to a wide range of tech products, including smartphones, laptops and smartwatches on a flexible, monthly rental basis.
Once a product rental period has ended, Groverās service allows its users to return the product free of charge. They can also decide to extend the product rental length or exchange the product for something else. Grover Business even takes care of the tech procurement and management process so that companies can stay focused on growth.
Rentals are available in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Spain at GROVER.COM, as well as in Germany through Groverās online and offline partner network, including Europeās leading electronics retail group, MediaMarktSaturn.
Grover is a pioneer in the circular economy: Its business model of renting out and refurbishing tech products contributes to devices being used more frequently and for a longer period. This increases the potential to avoid e-waste. To date, Grover has circulated more than 1.2 million devices in total.
With total funding of around ā¬1.4 billion to date and over 400 employees, Grover is one of the fastest-growing scaleups in Europe.
