About Us:
God Restoring Order (GRO) Community is a mental healthcare provider that specializes in trauma recovery services for males of color ages 5 and up. GRO services are grounded in an understanding of the neurological, biological and psychological effects of trauma. GRO services include mental health and wellness, stress management, and community outreach.
Position Summary:
The Community Support Specialist (CSS) plays a vital role in our Housing program, as this role helps individuals gain independent skills required for permanent housing. CSS is responsible for providing essential services to Gro clients through case management, ongoing assessments, and hands-on coaching. The CSS ensures that each GRO resident has wraparound support as they participate in the GRO Independent Housing Program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial, midpoint, and post assessments with clients using a strength-based approach to assess their strengths, challenges, and needs.
- Offer hands-on training to clients addressing some of their independent life skills challenges.
- Facilitate weekly group workshops to cover relevant topics and activities.
- Develop individualized housing plans with clients and reassess their needs monthly.
- Connect residents with appropriate services for affordable housing, employment, childcare needs,food insecurity, and clothing.
- Join team meetings to discuss clients' progress and coordinate services.
- Accompany clients to view potential rental units, helping them navigate the housing application process.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation.

Qualifications:
- Required Education:· Minimum of high school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: · Preferred experience in same or related role but not required. We are willing to train.· Experience working with re-entry population desired.
- Social services industry experience preferred.
- Physical Demands: walking premises including up and down stairs
- Must have reliable transportation
