Job Title: Die Maker
Job Summary:
Greenville Tool and Die is looking for a Die Maker. The Die Maker analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools by performing the following duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Die Maker is responsible for every aspect of the tool.
- Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; adjust as necessary.
- File, grind, shim, and adjust different parts to properly fit them together.
- Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
- Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
- Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
- Lead die construction and try out.
- Follow all safety rules and report unsafe work conditions to management.
- Keep the work area clean.
- Maintain appropriate tools and keep current on tool calibration.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
- Diemaker Journeyman Status or Equivalent
Physical demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand.
- The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands grip or handle; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
Work environment:
Manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
