Job Summary

We are seeking a Purchasing Manager Poland to lead the purchasing function and drive strategic sourcing initiatives that support the company’s profitability, operational performance, and growth objectives. This role is responsible for developing and executing purchasing strategies, optimizing supplier performance, ensuring supply continuity, and delivering sustainable cost savings while improving working capital. The Purchasing Manager Poland will play a key role in leading and developing the purchasing team, managing supplier relationships and risks, and collaborating with internal and global stakeholders to achieve cost, quality, and business targets through effective sourcing and continuous improvement initiatives.
 

Key responsibilities:

  • Guarantee the committed budget for the Plant on KPIs (PPI, PPM, OTD, BCC, T&Cs, CO2 footprint), decrease the need of cash and improve the supply chain to decrease the inventory level.

  • Manage the Team: Set objectives, perform annual appraisals, train and recruit purchasers.

  • For Greenbrier Category Buyers participate in the elaboration of a purchasing strategy. Apply the defined strategy.

  • For local commodities (including NPR and Investment), define and lead the purchasing strategy to achieve the target. Provide the company competitive advantages in the areas of materials, supplies, investments and services.

  • Guarantee the Purchasing Performance in Projects. Be involved upstream, guarantee Cost Control, planning, fulfill Project needs. Challenge the Bill Of Material in order to propose price and cost reductions.

  • Improve the quality delivered by the Suppliers. Reach PPM targets, recover COPQ cost from suppliers, qualify suppliers accordingly to the Activity needs, guarantee that the engineering processes allow suppliers to meet the targets (soundness of the specification, design freeze, control plan for each part).

  • Guarantee that group purchasing methods, rules and tools are used and applied in the plant.

  • Drive sustainability initiatives within the supply chain: promote responsible sourcing, support reduction of the CO2 footprint across the supplier base, and ensure compliance with Greenbrier’s ESG commitments.

  • Support digitalization of procurement processes: leverage e-procurement platforms, spend analytics tools and supplier portals to increase transparency and efficiency.

  • Participate proactively in improving the Group purchasing performance.

Your profile:

  • Purchasing professional; skilled negotiator

  • High level of technical understanding

  • Experience in team management, High leadership skills

  • Fluent in English

  • Experience in a globalized industrial environment

  • Working experience in cross-functional teams

  • Proficiency in digital procurement tools and ERP systems (DAX365 preferred)

  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills

  • Knowledge of sustainability and ESG requirements in supply chain management

  • University degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or equivalent
