About this role

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience with mobile device SOCs and subsystems including CPU, memory, GPU, multimedia, modem, and WiFi.
  • Experience optimizing software for power and performance improvements.
  • Experience with embedded software system design.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Knowledge of Linux kernel and Android system.
  • Excellent communication skills.

As part of the Pixel System Power team, you will focus on power and performance aspects of mobile devices and all subsystems. You will work cross-functionally across Silicon and Software teams to drive power optimizations and improve the battery-life experiences of dogfooders and users. You will also be responsible for coordinating efforts with teams across Android platforms, applications and hardware teams to ensure great battery life for all devices.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $188000 - $274000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities:

  • Drive power optimizations on mobile devices.
  • Provide inputs to architecture teams on new device features and initiatives to improve power.
  • Analyze and optimize the software across the key components of all device subsystems, CPU, GPU, MCU, memory, display and connectivity.
  • Debug and resolve battery drain issues, while developing tools and tests for validating and monitoring power consumption.
  • Collaborate with Android and app teams across Google to help them optimize power.
