About this role
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience working in an electronics or embedded systems design technical environment, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
- Ability to travel internationally up to 20% as required.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in consumer electronics design.
- Experience designing high speed digital systems.
- Experience with mobile SoC design.
- Experience with: embedded systems, various communication protocols (especially USB, SPI, I2C, I3C, PCIE, UART, MIPI, DSI), analog design, low power design, Cadence/Allegro.
- Enjoy being in the lab (soldering, oscilloscopes, data acquisition) and want to be in the details.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.
US: $132000 - $189000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities:
- Enable Google's future products by contributing to platform architecture definition, electrical schematic design, and prototype validation.
- Work with all cross-functional teams (software, factory test, signal integrity, ECAD, product design, program management, etc.) to design, implement, and deliver prototype hardware to enable development activities.
- Plan and execute bring-up and validation of development hardware designs including functional verification, signal characterization, and power validation activities.
- Bring designs to production by defining factory test requirements, resolving build and test issues, assisting in software bring-up and debug, and working onsite with the manufacturer (if needed).
