- The Grader - Shoes at GOODWILL INDUSTRIES OF DALLAS INC plays a crucial role in supporting our charitable mission by ensuring the quality and appropriateness of shoe donations. This position involves evaluating and sorting donated footwear to maximize the value of contributions and enhance the shopping experience for our customers. As part of our dedicated team, the Grader contributes to our efforts in providing affordable goods to the community while promoting sustainable practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and assess the quality of donated shoes to determine their suitability for resale.
- Sort shoes into appropriate categories based on condition, style, and brand.
- Identify and set aside items that require repair or are unsuitable for sale.
- Maintain an organized and efficient grading area to ensure smooth operations.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize grading processes and meet productivity goals.
- Assist in pricing shoes according to established guidelines and market trends.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to inventory management.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for improving grading standards and practices.
- Support the overall mission of GOODWILL INDUSTRIES OF DALLAS INC by promoting a positive and professional work environment.
QualificationsRequired Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience
- Previous experience in a retail or warehouse environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with shoe brands, styles, and quality assessment is advantageous.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately assess the condition and quality of shoes.
- Good organizational skills to manage and sort inventory efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
