About FICC & Equities
We make markets in and clear client transactions on major stock, options and futures exchanges worldwide. Through our global sales force, we maintain relationships with our clients, receiving orders and distributing investment research, trading ideas, market information and analysis.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
- We are recruiting for a Bengaluru office-based Analyst/Associate (2-5 years’ experience) to join the Global Banking & Markets Operational Resilience team, within the Global Banking & Markets Public Operational Risk organization.
- The Global Banking & Markets Operating Risk organization encompasses numerous functions including global management and oversight of Supervisory, Conduct and Operational Controls as well as divisional Technology and Operational Risk, and operational resilience. The organization spans 10 offices across the globe.
- The Operational Resilience team is accountable for (1) pre-emptively identifying and mitigating threats to operating Resiliency Objectives that are established for Global Banking & Markets primary functions including Capital Markets, Banking, Operations and Engineering, and (2) preparedness for, and risk management of, incidents that may impact those objectives.
- The successful hire will be responsible for driving initiatives to reduce risk and improve resiliency throughout the Global Banking & Markets front-to-back organization, ensuring effective recovery plans are in place and in compliance with the firm’s overall resiliency strategies for effective continuity of operations in crisis events. In this capacity the successful hire will work closely with the Resilience Manager to drive strategic direction and implement business continuity plans for functions, facilities, systems, third-parties and people across the division.
- The successful hire will develop an in-depth knowledge of Global Banking & Markets business flows and Global Banking & Markets operational risk and resiliency posture. Working closely with stakeholders across Global Banking & Markets , Engineering Infrastructure, Risk Management, Corporate Services teams, the new hire will coordinate and ensure the smooth execution of business operations during events such as a pandemic, cyber-attacks, natural calamities, market disruptions, etc. In addition, the new hire will work towards creation of metrics and business intelligence to improve the robustness of the program across APAC and India regions.
Your Responsibilities:
- Crisis Management: Serve as a critical member of the APAC & India GBM Public Crisis Management team, responsible for timely user notification during crisis events, advocating for user needs, and assisting with business recovery efforts.
- Program Adoption: Drive the education, awareness, and adoption of the Operational Resilience and Risk program within the GBM division. This includes developing and delivering training modules and producing quarterly team newsletters to enhance understanding and engagement.
- BCP Certification: Oversee the completeness and annual certification of all Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) for the region, ensuring alignment with business requirements and regulatory expectations.
- Assurance Testing: Manage the annual completion of all Assurance Tests, ensuring that testing activities are comprehensive and effectively validate the operational resilience of critical business processes.
- Divisional Assurance: Orchestrate divisional assurance activities, including tabletop exercises, simulations, drills, and training sessions. Drive these activities to completion, maintain thorough documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements, and identify areas for improvement.
- Regulatory Adherence: Ensure strict adherence to Operational Resilience Guidelines published by regional regulators, including the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) MAS Operational Resilience, Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) HKMA Supervisory Policy Manual, A-SIFMA (Asia Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association), the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) ASIC Operational Resilience, the Financial Services Agency (FSA) FSA Japan, and other relevant regulatory bodies as required.
- Project Management: Manage day-to-day tasks and contribute to projects designed to introduce or improve processes and tools that enhance the firm's risk management and recovery capabilities.
- Risk Partnership: Collaborate closely with Operational Risk, Internal Audit, and other Risk partners to ensure that regulatory requirements are consistently met and that business activities align with the firm's overall resiliency strategy.
- Business Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor to business divisions on matters related to business resilience, providing appropriate guidance, conducting business simulations, and delivering training on relevant tools and risk mitigation strategies.
Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:
Basic Qualifications
- 2-5 years of experience with strong analytical, interpersonal, problem solving, organizational and time management skills
- Self-motivated with an ability to work on one’s own with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Level headed and composed even in difficult situations and exercises sound judgement
- Highly organized, strong attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to summarize complicated information to people with less technical knowledge
- The ability to develop and maintain good stakeholder relationships with colleagues and clients
- Ambitions in the Data Analytics space – data warehousing, data mining, and dashboard development
- Interest and aptitude for transforming data into information usable by the business (visualization, metric development, etc.)
- Technical Qualifications (ideal not essential)
- Knowledge on tools used to manage risk metrics and measurements, Tableau, Ignite Pad, Alteryx, design dashboard, data manipulation, etc.
- Exposure to IT Resilience, Tech Risk, Cyber Security principles would be an added advantage.
- Experience in managing Business Continuity Plans, and conducting assurances testing.
