Position Summary

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance and reliability functions to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of manufacturing assets. This position oversees preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities while driving continuous improvement initiatives that maximize equipment reliability, production uptime, and asset life.

The Maintenance Manager leads maintenance personnel, planners, storeroom operations, contractors, and reliability initiatives while partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, Safety, Quality, and Supply Chain.

Essential Responsibilities

Leadership & Safety

Promote a zero-incident safety culture throughout the maintenance organization.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards.
Lead daily maintenance meetings and shift handoffs.
Develop maintenance supervisors, planners, technicians, and storeroom personnel.
Establish performance expectations and conduct employee evaluations.
Manage contractor safety and performance.

Maintenance Operations

Direct all preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities.
Ensure rapid response to equipment failures while minimizing downtime.
Balance planned versus reactive maintenance to improve reliability.
Monitor maintenance backlog and establish weekly priorities.
Ensure CMMS work order compliance and documentation.
Optimize labor utilization

Reliability Improvement

Develop equipment reliability strategies.
Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) following major equipment failures.
Implement predictive maintenance technologies including:

Vibration Analysis

Infrared Thermography

Oil Analysis

Ultrasonic Inspection

Motor Circuit Analysis

Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Increase Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF).
Reduce Mean Time To Repair (MTTR).

Planning & Scheduling

Ensure all maintenance work follows the planning and scheduling process.
Review weekly maintenance schedules.
Coordinate outages and shutdowns with Operations.
Maintain work priority process.
Ensure proper job plans and labor estimates.
Improve schedule compliance.

CMMS Management

Champion effective use of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Maintain accurate asset hierarchy.
Ensure PM completion rates exceed targets.
Review maintenance KPIs through CMMS dashboards.
Improve work order quality and closure documentation.

Storeroom & Inventory

Partner with Parts Clerk and Storeroom personnel.
Optimize inventory levels.
Improve inventory accuracy.
Reduce obsolete inventory.
Standardize spare parts.
Develop critical spare parts strategies.
Improve supplier relationships.

Budget & Financial Management

Control maintenance spending.
Manage labor and contractor costs.
Deliver cost savings through reliability improvements.

Continuous Improvement

Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
Support TPM implementation.
Facilitate Kaizen events.
Reduce waste in maintenance processes.
Standardize maintenance procedures.

California Pay Transparency Disclaimer: This is an Exempt position. The pay range for this position is $125,000 to $160,000. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Maintenance Management, or related field preferred.
Minimum 7–10 years of industrial maintenance experience.
Minimum 5 years in a maintenance leadership role.
Experience in paper, corrugated, folding carton, converting, or packaging manufacturing preferred.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems.
Strong understanding of CMMS systems.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and moving equipment.
Ability to climb ladders and platforms and inspect equipment.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
Must be available for off-shift support, emergency call-outs, and planned shutdowns.
