Summary:
The Public Health Analyst will work across DGHP branches and units to support strategic planning, data-informed decision-making, program reporting, internal communications, knowledge sharing, and operational coordination. The position will develop and maintain a variety of digital, visual, and printable products, including executive presentations, technical summaries, reports, infographics, fact sheets, data visualizations, meeting materials, and other informational products tailored to public health programs and stakeholder needs.
The ideal candidate combines strong public health or policy analysis skills with experience in strategic communications, visual communications, information design, digital content development, and collaboration platforms such as Microsoft 365 and SharePoint.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
Public Health Analysis and Strategic Planning:
- Conduct research and analysis related to emerging domestic and global health issues, program priorities, risks, opportunities, and operational needs.
- Support strategic planning activities by gathering, organizing, analyzing, and synthesizing programmatic and operational information.
- Develop decision-support materials that provide leadership with clear and actionable information.
- Monitor emerging public health issues and trends and assess their potential implications for DGHP programs and priorities.
- Support the development of programmatic summaries, technical analyses, executive briefings, and other products that communicate findings and recommendations.
- Facilitate coordination across DGHP branches and units to promote alignment with divisional priorities and strategic objectives.
Informational and Visual Design:
- Develop and design presentations, reports, executive summaries, programmatic report-outs, infographics, fact sheets, posters, and other visual communications products.
- Translate complex scientific, technical, and programmatic information into clear, concise, and visually compelling materials for leadership and stakeholder audiences.
- Apply information design principles to improve the usability, readability, and effectiveness of DGHP products.
- Develop templates, graphics, visual aids, and other standardized products that improve consistency across DGHP communications.
- Produce digital and printable materials that accurately represent DGHP priorities, scientific contributions, program outcomes, and operational activities.
- Ensure applicable products meet federal Section 508 accessibility requirements.
Data Visualization and Decision Support:
- Support the development of data visualization strategies and tools that communicate programmatic, operational, and public health information effectively.
- Analyze data and identify appropriate methods for presenting trends, relationships, outcomes, and key performance information.
- Develop charts, dashboards, graphics, and other data-driven visual products to support leadership decision-making and program management.
- Advise DGHP stakeholders on effective approaches for presenting data to different audiences.
- Assist with the integration of data-driven tools that strengthen DGHP’s ability to manage, analyze, and communicate its work.
Digital Content and Multimedia Development:
- Develop digital informational content, including short-form products approximately 1–10 minutes in length, highlighting technical achievements, program outcomes, public health initiatives, and global health activities.
- Support the development of digital content for internal communications, briefings, knowledge sharing, and stakeholder engagement.
- Develop multimedia and visual products that effectively communicate complex public health concepts and programmatic information.
- Capture professional visual documentation of key meetings, field activities, program events, and other activities, as appropriate, to support archiving, reporting, communications, and knowledge sharing.
Internal Knowledge Management and M365/SharePoint Support:
- Support the analysis, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of internal knowledge management products and resources within Microsoft 365 and SharePoint environments.
- Assist with the organization and presentation of DGHP information, resources, documents, and other content to improve accessibility and internal knowledge sharing.
- Develop and maintain digital content, templates, reference materials, and other resources that support collaboration across DGHP branches and units.
- Assist with improving information organization, content workflows, and processes within M365 and SharePoint.
- Support the development of internal digital information strategies that improve communication, collaboration, and access to programmatic knowledge.
- Identify opportunities to improve knowledge-sharing processes and recommend practical digital solutions to address management and operational gaps.
- Support the development and implementation of standardized approaches for organizing, maintaining, and sharing internal program information.
Meeting and Event Support:
- Plan and provide logistical and technical support for internal meetings, briefings, workshops, and events.
- Develop meeting agendas, presentation templates, visual aids, briefing materials, and other meeting-related products.
- Support the development of collaboration tools and digital resources that improve meeting efficiency and participant engagement.
- Assist with meeting documentation, information capture, follow-up materials, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Coordinate with DGHP stakeholders to ensure meeting materials accurately reflect divisional priorities and technical contributions.
Process Improvement:
- Analyze existing management and operational processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, information flow, and knowledge sharing.
- Develop design solutions, templates, workflows, and other tools to address identified operational gaps.
- Recommend improvements to internal communication and information management practices.
- Assist in implementing standardized processes that support DGHP’s strategic planning, reporting, and operational objectives.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex information and translate findings into clear, concise, and audience-appropriate products.
- Experience developing professional presentations, reports, summaries, infographics, fact sheets, and other visual or digital communications products.
- Experience working with Microsoft 365 applications and/or SharePoint.
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams, branches, and organizational levels.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality products within established timelines.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Public Policy, Public Health, Communications, Graphic Design/Multimedia Studies, or related fields
- Minimum 4-7 years’ experience (within the last two years) in fields related to integrated strategic communications, health communications, public policy, public health, journalism or visual communications.
- Experience developing materials for executive leadership.
- Experience with data visualization or business intelligence tools.
- Experience developing SharePoint sites, pages, libraries, workflows, or other M365-based solutions.
- Experience with graphic design, multimedia production, photography, or video production.
- Knowledge of federal communications, accessibility, and information management requirements.
- Experience developing materials that comply with Section 508 accessibility requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting CDC, HHS, or other federal public health programs.
