Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Role Summary:

The project Manager will demonstrate a proven ability to drive projects to successful completion while managing customer expectations and relationships, working with both internal and external resources in the delivery of commercial software solutions into some of the largest retailers in North America. Able to support and drive agile development and delivery teams/processes; manage project finances, forecasts and customer invoicing; provide reporting including project status and finances at multiple levels, interpret results for actionable and positive outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage successful software delivery projects
  • Primary customer interface; liaison between customer, delivery teams, cross-functional global teams, GK leadership
  • Oversight of all project work streams, resources assigned, local and offshore resources, vendors
  • Administer and validate project resource time reporting 
  • Manage project costs and expenses, ensuring profitable results
  • Project Financial and Status reporting at all levels, internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage project scope to contract deliverables
  • Ensure change requests, contracts, customer acceptance/approval, and all relevant documentation are maintained throughout the project lifecycle  
  • Drive and support agile development teams in the delivery of commercial software into our retail customers

Other Tasks:

Customer requirements

  • Primary customer contact person
  • Coordinate Discovery workshops
  • Understand customer requirements; provide guidance with GK Software Solutions
  • Assist Product Owner & Agile Team to prioritize customer requirements
  • Ensure project backlog is being worked in the proper sequence, with the appropriate resources, for successful delivery into customer QA and Production environments
  • Help identify & document potential risks; recommend stable long-term solutions
  • Liaison between Customer and GK Leadership, serve as Customer Advocate for project interests and requirements 
  • Support documentation of          requirements: user stories & acceptance criteria
  • Drive the customer sign-off on User Stories, Acceptance Criteria & Risks
  • Help identify Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for pilot, full chain rollout requirements, and add-on work with Customer.

 

Project Planning

  • Participate in development team sizing of user stories
  • Plan project resource availability, third-party participation
  • Create project Roadmap with short- and long-term sprint plans integrating Customer requirements and development team capacity
  • Manage project risks & mitigations
  • Obtain Customer sign-off on delivery plan
  • Draft Statement of Work (SOW); Review with Head of Projects, obtain customer signature
  • Manage projects via traditional Project Management and Agile tools 
  • Planning successful Project Delivery
  • Manage the operational, technical, functional, and business objectives required by the contract, provide a profitable interaction
  • Identify and raise change requests. as appropriate. based upon agreed upon scope and deliverables 
  • Collaborate with development teams in stand-ups, sprint planning, demos, end of sprint work, grooming and other meetings
  • Coordinate environment, system configuration, and building of labs with Technical Consultants & Managed Services
  • Manage project costs and expenses, provide GK & Customer leadership financial reporting
  • Project schedule and financial forecasting
  • Report on project risks & mitigation; overall project status
  • Onsite or remote support during Go-Live / Pilot

Qualifications

Education
 
Training and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
  • Software development for retail environments a plus 
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the retail industry, restaurant, or POS experience a plus
  • At least 5 years’ experience in delivery of IT projects
  • Project Management certifications preferred
  • Evidence of leading successful customer facing project delivery
  • Experienced in project financial and contract management
  • Demonstrated communication, networking aptitude, strong presentation skills 
  • Strong collaboration and  problem-solving skills
  • Verified ability to organize work independently and efficiently; demonstrated self-motivation, and excellent time management
  • Exhibit adaptability to diverse customer environments 
  • Available for travel, as needed, up to 25%

Technical Skills

  • Office Skills (Word, Excel, PPT, Project Management tools, Visio)
  • Retail Process Knowledge (Retail Experience) 
    • POS / Back office
    • ERP / Store processes/CRM
    • Knowledge of POS / ERP products
  • SAP/Oracle/JDE or Similar ERP, CRM Product Skills
