Job Overview 

Lead the planning and implementation of start-up activities to achieve the project’s criteria and vertical start-up glide paths on schedule and at budget and provide coordination with other key project elements/interfaces.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Project Join-Up
    • Become familiar with the project and collect preliminary information to begin developing the start-up plan.
    • Ensure the Team Charter is developed and team communication in place.
    • Understand I2M and IIM pillar and deliverables
  • Start-Up Implementation Strategy
    • Identify start-up implementation strategy, obtain approval and begin to develop start- up plans.
    • Ensure that current operation assessment is developed and implemented.
    • Ensure that a process for change management and reapplication of learnings is developed and used.
    • Ensure an issue identification & resolution process is developed and used.
    • Provide direction, consistency and focus.
    • Provide training and coaching on start-up processes.
    • Build capability within the team on Global Standard CQV template and content.
  • Criteria and Start-Up Glide Paths
    • Define the project’s criteria and start-up glide path and obtain approval from management.
    • Attend Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for key equipment
  • Commissioning Plan

Ensure that:

    • Success Criteria are agreed (PQCDSM & VSU).
    • Pre-Commissioning Plan is developed.
    • CTPs/CTQs are identified and agreed within the team.
    • Duration of runs and products with all perquisites are defined.
    • Activity Mapping Matrix is built for Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning phases.
  • Verification Plan

Ensure that:

    • Success Criteria are agreed (PQCDSM & VSU).
    • Duration of runs and products with all perquisites are defined.
  • TT&T Plan

Ensure that:

    • TT&T Plan is developed and following Global Standards.
    • Hiring strategy is identified.
    • Roles and Responsibilities are clear.
    • Materials Plan: Supplier(s) Material Quality and Quantity Plans are developed and aligned with start-up requirements
  • Start-Up Scheduling
    • Ensure that Start-Up Planning and Implementation Schedules are developed.
    • Ensure that Resource Allocation Plan is developed.
  • Measures and Results Reporting
    • Ensure that Planning and Implementation Measures and Results reporting is developed and used.
    • Ensure that project team is aligned on how vertical start-up will be measured
  • Start-Up Budget
    • Ensure that a budget is developed and approved.

 

Key Responsibilities (Safety): 

  • Follow company’s health and safety program, rules and procedures and work in compliance with health and safety-related legislation and codes
  • Report all incidents, injuries, illnesses, and near misses to your Supervisor
  • Use or wear safety equipment and personal protective equipment required by the company
  • Report to supervisor any hazardous or unsafe conditions, absence or defects in equipment and any contravention of health and safety legislation
  • Foster a Foster a culture of quality improvement
  • Ensures compliance to quality and food safety policies and programs

 

   

Recipe for Success: 

  • Completion of a college diploma Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of management level experience in Maintenance, Engineering or Production role, ideally in an industrial Food Manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience leading CI projects incorporating 5S, Kanban, Visual Management, and other Lean methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Clearly understands the Commercial Business he or she will support.
  • Has had leadership experience in a manufacturing site, preferred in Operations.
  • Understands the I2M / IIM Process
  • Has experience leading and directing others.
  • Understands and is trained on some key pillars as IIM, AM, and PM.
