Job Overview:
Responsible for designing and leading sensory evaluations, developing and validating sensory methodologies, and performing advanced data analysis. The Sensory Specialist collaborates with cross-functional teams to guide product formulation optimization and sensory direction that supports innovation and new product development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and Design Sensory Programs
- Design and execute sensory testing plans aligned with project objectives
- Recommend appropriate sensory methodologies.
- Perform statistical analyses to interpret sensory data and identify product drivers of liking
- Translate findings into actionable insights for Product Development and Marketing
- Contribute to building sensory knowledge and capability across the organization.
- Develop and deliver training sessions for cross functional teams on sensory science and data interpretation
- Assist PD Manager and Product Developers in conducting shelf-life studies of new and existing products.
- Keep current database of shelf-life studies.
- Coordinate and conduct shelf-life studies, sensory and analytical tests required.
- Maintain reports for new shelf-life studies.
- Create purchase orders for items in the lab and new materials required for plant trials
The Recipe for Success:
- Completion of university degree/college diploma in Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field
- 2 years working experience in sensory evaluation or research and development
- Good understanding of GMP, HACCP, GFSI (BRC, SQF) and Food Allergens
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of commercial bakery ingredients, production processes, and sensory evaluation methodologies
- Have good working knowledge of word, excel, power point and outlook.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize task, delegate and follow up.
- Ability to lead, work independently, and in a team environment
