Maintenance Technician

ABOUT THE ROLE

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform scheduled preventative, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on production machinery (new and legacy).
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults.
• Assist with installation, commissioning, and modification of production equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, cleaning, and adjustments to maintain optimal equipment performance.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and spare parts inventory using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Support production line changeovers, equipment start-ups, and shutdowns.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to resolve technical issues and drive process improvements.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with ISO, Good Manufacturing Process (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and company safety standards.
• Identify and implement opportunities for equipment upgrades, process improvements, and cost savings.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment.
• Undertake other duties as assigned within the scope of your skill set.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Trade qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related Engineering field.
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in maintenance/service of automated production machinery (FMCG, packaging, plastics, or high-speed manufacturing preferred).
• Experience with Programmable Logic Controller PLC-controlled equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and modern automated systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, manuals, and service documentation.
• Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Highly detailed and maintain a high level of delivery on all work, demonstrating high attention to detail and commitment to quality, with an analytical approach and strong research skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Valid driver’s licence; forklift licence highly regarded.
• Ability to perform manual handling (up to 10 kg), stand for long periods (up to 7+ hours per day), and operate keyboard/PC (approx. 4-7 hours per day).
