Job Description Summary
Process Quality Engineer focus on ensuring the quality of standard processes of execution for tracking and traceability, safeguarding manufacturing processes and product integrity. This role is critical in driving quality processes, resolving quality issues, and embedding a culture of Zero Defect and Built-In Quality across the shop.The PQE combines strong technical expertise of processes and, structured problem-solving capabilities to proactively improve defect reduction to comply with the Zero Defect culture.
The Process Quality Engineer (PQE) is responsible for driving process and product quality by reducing defects within repairs processes. Successful candidates will partner with cross functional teams to build quality into each step of the repair. The PQE will develop Quality Management expertise to support the leadership in maintaining compliance and striving for excellence through continuous improvement activities.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Drive a ‘zero defect’ culture with Quality, sustaining operations compliance to regulatory & non-regulatory requirements.
- Lead and drive continuous improvement activities, proactively building in quality to repair processes and procedures to ensure repair and detection methods are robust.
- Drive and lead problem solving activities deploying corrective and preventative actions to reduce defects and eliminate reoccurring quality defects.
- Daily support to the operations team to ensure compliance repair methods and to Quality Management System procedures.
- Drive resolution of actions relating to non-conformance reports, Stop Works Events and Quality Concerns.
- Lead defect reduction projects and working inclusively with Operations and Engineering to resolve shop floor quality issues promptly.
- Championing quality initiatives and CoPQ reduction projects in the cell. Conducting assigned internal audits to ensure compliance to local procedures
- Support training activities for all employees relating to quality.
- Develop work instructions to facilitate a standard of work related to projects and components within the service center
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to work 1st Shift (7am-3pm)
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited University or College (preferably in Engineering – Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical or related technical engineering background); OR a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial or similar industry.
- 3 years of manufacturing quality experience in a similar industry
- Must be legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future
- This position is 100% onsite at GE Atlanta, SC Service Center
Desired Characteristics:
- Prior experience in a Quality Management System/QMS (IE: ISO 9001 requirements)
- 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience within a power generation repair business
- Demonstrated ability to lead change
- Ability to influence and motivate others within a team environment
- Good understanding of workshop practices/processes
- Strong communication & organizational skills
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Proficiency with computer tools (MS Office minimum)
- Proactive with high level of integrity
