Position Overview

Genuine Foods K-12 is looking for a Community Engagement Coordinator to help bring our student programming and community partnership commitments to life at a flagship New Orleans charter school account, with additional support across our broader NOLA-area portfolio. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants real experience in food service marketing, community engagement, and program execution.

Key Responsibilities

Programming & Activations

Help plan and execute recurring student programming including Try It Tuesdays (NOLA Chef Series), Lucky Tray Day, Spirit Days, and Local Spotlights/Genuine Homegrown features

Support seasonal and cultural activations such as Mardi Gras, Black History Month, Cinco de Mayo, Earth Day, and Epiphany

Assist with Spring Wellness Week, International Days, Special Persons Day, and other special events on the monthly activation calendar

Support the annual Student-Led Dinner, culinary club sessions for middle schoolers, and student competition/showcase events

Community & Family Engagement

Help coordinate and staff monthly Parent Council meetings, including collecting votes on upcoming Try It Tuesday themes and menu ideas

Assist with monthly student focus groups, including taste-test logistics and feedback collection

Support distribution and collection of student/family surveys, and help compile feedback for leadership review

Assist with food insecurity initiatives, including holiday and year-round community food support efforts

Communications & Reporting

Help document activations with photos/recaps for internal reporting and marketing use

Support written feedback logs and contribute to weekly ops updates shared with school leadership

Assist with promotional materials for Parent Council, focus groups, and student events (e.g., signage, flyers, QR code feedback prompts)

Portfolio Support

Provide activation and event support across other Genuine Foods K-12 accounts in the greater New Orleans area as needed

Travel between sites within the local market to support multi-account programming (mileage reimbursed)

QualificationsQualifications

Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in communications, marketing, hospitality, nutrition, education, or related field

Comfortable working in school environments with students, parents, and staff

Strong communication and organizational skills; reliable and detail-oriented

Available for part-time hours during the school day/week, with some flexibility for evening events (e.g., Parent Council, Student-Led Dinner)

Reliable transportation to travel between New Orleans-area sites

Interest in food, community impact, or education a plus
