JOB DESCRIPTION

REPORTS TO: Tooling Manager

DIRECT REPORTS: N/A

FLSA STATUS: Hourly Non-Exempt

ROLE: Responsible for maintaining all Tooling Shop machinery according to their maintenance manuals, maintaining the SQF cleaning schedules for the Tooling Shop, packaging and moving items for shipping out, inspecting received items coming in for quantity and quality, putting received items away, moving and weighing tooling, assisting the Tooling Inventory Administrator with shop inventory, assisting in materials preparation for machining, and generally assisting coworkers with job related tasks.

  • Moving & Weighing Tooling
  • Assist in Shop Inventory of all components
  • Assist in Material Preparation
  • Other relevant tasks as required.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Interpersonal/Communication:

  • Demonstrate ability to participate in interdepartmental communication and teamwork
  • Demonstrate effective and diplomatic written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrate ability to work under pressure, meet scheduled and/or emergency deadlines without loss of composure

Technical Knowledge:

  • Demonstrate ability to operate vertical and horizontal band saws
  • Demonstrate ability to operate a fork truck and scissor lift
  • Demonstrate ability to operate parts cleaners and dry ice blaster
  • Demonstrate ability to operate the sand blasting cabinet
  • Demonstrate ability to operate disc sander
  • Demonstrate ability to operate a pneumatic pencil grinder and die grinder
  • Demonstrate ability to accurately read a tape measure, scale and/or measuring calipers
  • Demonstrate ability to read and follow machine maintenance schedules
  • Demonstrate ability to adequately package precision tooling for shipping
  • Demonstrate ability to read and maintain the shop SQF cleaning schedules
  • Demonstrate ability to assist in maintaining a 5S centered inventory system.
  • Demonstrate an average to above average mechanical and mathematical aptitude.

Tools Required:

  • Tape Measure (Supplied by Shop; MSC 38134458)
  • 12” Steel Rule (4R) (Supplied by Shop; MSC 59624692) (changed from 5R to 4R rule 10.8.18)
  • 6” Dial Calipers (Supplied by Shop; MSC 37530748)
  • At one year of Tooling Shop employment, ownership of the referenced supplied tools will be granted
  • Attainment of additional tools will be beneficial during tenure

  • Can demonstrate ability to prioritize multi-task duties without loss of efficiency or composure
  • Demonstrates ability to manage time properly for efficient and effective results

  • Demonstrate ability to maintain accurate records for all data collection

Safety:

  • Demonstrate ability to comply with major Federal and State industrial safety regulations and industry and professional standards
  • Demonstrate ability to understand and actively participate in all company safety programs, policies and procedures

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • No minimum work experience required
  • Any mechanical aptitude training is a plus
  • Will be trained and certified for fork truck operation
  • Will be trained and certified for scissor lift operation
