The role: The Assistant Lecturer programme is a 12 month programme under the supervision of an experienced member of staff and you will be responsible for performing a range of tutoring, lecturing, administration, professional duties, and other activities to deliver a high-quality educational experience to our students.
As an Assistant Lecturer you are responsible for engaging students in the learning processes to ensure student outcomes are maximised and for contributing to the development of a range of subjects across the curriculum.

What you'll be doing:
- Deliver classes and assess student work, ensuring that all learning outcomes are met.
- Provide academic support and guidance to students as necessary
- Assist Module Leaders and other senior staff in the planning of lectures, tutorials, practical’s and other classes.
- Develop, update, and improve course materials as appropriate and necessary.
- Keep up to date with best practice in teaching and learning, and ensure that your teaching reflects best practice and embeds technologies that enhance the learning experience.
- Attend meetings as required, and develop productive working relationships within the various teams that you will be engaged with.
- Undertake a reflective programme of staff development which includes teaching observations, directed study and workshop participation.
- Participate in the GBS performance management programme, meeting a range of clearly defined objectives for student outcomes, student satisfaction, retention and attendance.
- Undertake administrative duties as determined by your line manager
- Take on other responsibilities as may reasonably be required to support the work of GBS
About You:
- You will hold at least Master’s degree in your academic field, or be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of professional achievement.
- Previous experience of working in the health industry as a health practitioner
- Evidence of supervising student work and providing support and feedback
- Evidence of teaching in your field.
- Demonstrate professional conduct in all interactions with staff and students.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant subject matter.
- Attention to detail and accurate reporting.
- Ability to maintain thorough and organised student records.
- Ability to work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines.
- Highly motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Desirable:
- Previous lecturing experience within UK Higher Education
- Previous training experience to large groups about health related subjects
