Job Description Summary

In this Lead System Designer role, you’ll have a huge impact on delivering innovative medical device software to global markets. You’ll work with many stakeholders to vet and approve requirements and designs. By considering both the business and the technical needs of the customers, you’ll drive towards the release of a quality product that meets the user’s needs.

Our Cleveland site, home to MIM Software within GE HealthCare’s Advanced Imaging Solutions segment, develops AI-enabled imaging analytics and workflow platforms that help clinicians turn complex medical images into meaningful insights, so they can diagnose conditions, plan treatments, and deliver more personalized patient care.

Job Description

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the technical leader for New Product Introductions and design changes, providing guidance on architecture, engineering decisions, and implementation strategies.

  • Ensure product performance, compliance, and reliability adhere to established industry and regulatory standards.

  • Analyze and present engineering trade-offs across products, recommending solutions that optimize safety, functional performance, reliability, cost, and time-to-market.

  • Collaborate with other subject matter experts in software engineering to review system requirements for feasibility and approve and document optimal system designs.

  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for product quality and safety issues, consistent with risk management and design control procedures.

  • Drive validation and verification activities for the overall product and system, including system level testing.

  • Lead formal design reviews and, when required, serve as an independent subject matter expert to provide objective technical assessments and risk evaluations, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and compliance protocols.

  • Monitor and communicate project status, business needs, and significant changes.

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of software products, their functionality, and their components.

  • Collaborate with product teams to gain in-depth understanding of key business drivers, and use this understanding to optimize system designs for users.

  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical & program reviews, surveillance, and audits.

  • Lead continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps, providing solutions.

What You’ll Need

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher. Degrees in a technical, scientific, or management field are preferred.

  • 4+ years of experience in project management or software design is acceptable.

  • Excellent organizational, documentation, analysis, and communication skills.

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

  • Experience in project management is preferred.

  • Experience in the software industry is preferred.

  • Experience in GE HealthCare Lead System Designer processes strongly preferred.

We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening. For U.S. based positions only, the pay range for this position is $120,000.00-$180,000.00 Annual. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience and location. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
