About this role

Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager with 8–15+ years of Banking/Financial Services experience, preferably across retail or commercial banking, to lead complex Core Banking implementation, migration, upgrade, and transformation programmes.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience managing legacy-to-modern core banking migrations, with a strong understanding of technology, data, integrations, testing, cutover, and production stabilisation. The role will involve working closely with business, technology, architecture, data, operations, vendors, and senior stakeholders across India, UK, Europe, or global teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of Core Banking implementation, migration, upgrade, and transformation programmes.
  • Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, resources, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, RAID, and governance.
  • Own the full migration lifecycle: Discovery → Design → Data Migration → Integration → SIT → UAT → Dress Rehearsal → Cutover → Go-Live → Hypercare.
  • Coordinate Business Analysts, Developers, Architects, Data, QA/Test, DevOps, Infrastructure, Operations, and Business teams.
  • Oversee data migration, including data mapping, cleansing, validation, reconciliation, migration testing, and readiness.
  • Manage technical dependencies across APIs, integrations, interfaces, databases, batch processing, downstream/upstream systems, and application architecture.
  • Drive SIT/UAT, defect management, environment readiness, business sign-off, and production readiness.
  • Develop and manage cutover, rollback, contingency, and hypercare plans.
  • Manage vendors, system integrators, and third-party technology partners.
  • Provide regular programme status, risks, decisions, and escalations to senior stakeholders and steering committees.
  • Ensure adherence to technology governance, security, risk, compliance, regulatory, and operational requirements.
  • Proactively identify delivery risks and resolve complex programme and technical challenges.

Requirements

Technical & Domain Skills
  • Strong experience with Core Banking platforms, including implementation, migration, replacement, upgrade, or modernisation.
  • Proven experience migrating from one core banking platform to another, preferably legacy → modern core banking platform.
  • Good understanding of APIs, integrations, data migration, interfaces, batch processing, databases, architecture, testing, deployment, and release management.
  • Experience with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
  • Banking domain experience across Core Banking, Payments, Lending, Retail/Commercial Banking, Digital Banking, Risk & Compliance, Regulatory Reporting, or Data.
  • Experience delivering large-scale banking transformation programmes, rather than primarily application maintenance or BAU projects.
Stakeholder & Programme Management
  • Strong experience managing stakeholders across Business, Technology, Architecture, Data, Operations, Testing, Infrastructure, Vendors, and senior banking leadership.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, influencing, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing geographically distributed teams and third-party vendors.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical and migration topics effectively to both technical and business audiences.
  • Experience working with UK/European/global banking stakeholders is highly desirable.
Requirements
  • 8–15+ years of experience in Banking/Financial Services and IT Project/Programme Management.
  • Proven experience delivering Core Banking implementation, migration, upgrade, or transformation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end migration, data, integrations, testing, cutover, and hypercare.
  • Strong project governance, RAID, dependency, budget, milestone, and stakeholder management experience.
  • India-based candidate with flexibility to work with UK/European/global teams.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum Master, or equivalent certification is desirable.
Preferred Profile: Candidates with direct experience leading Core Banking replacement or migration programmes, particularly legacy-to-modern platform transformations involving complex data migration, integrations, testing, cutover, and post-go-live stabilisation, will be strongly preferred.
