6. He is expected to establish direct contact with Client and whenever necessary with other Bureau Veritas organization.

1. Minimum Required Qualifications

1. Specialty  

NACE / CSWIP / British Gas Painting / Painting inspector Grade II or an approved equivalent.

1. Education

Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or HNC

1. Training

NACE / CSWIP / British Gas Painting / Painting inspector Grade II or an approved equivalent.

Specific Technical Induction for Specific Projects

1. Technical knowledge

Strong knowledge of the International Codes & Standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, ASTM and BS.

Experience with Painting/Coating Inspection according to relevant Codes.

Application of Codes and standards, project specifications and procedures.

1. Experience

Inspector/Technician : Minimum 5 years experience in similar field

Engineer Surveyor : Minimum 8 years experience in similar field

Senior Engineer Surveyor : Minimum 10 years experience in similar field

1. Responsibilities / Authorities / Accountabilities

1. Primary Functions

1. Review and comment / approve contractor’s Painting, coating & wrapping procedures.
2. Carry out inspection of surface profile, chloride contamination test as per applicable standards.
3. Monitor weather and equipment condition during Painting, coating operation
4. Ensure that paint materials are used from approved paint manufacturers with valid pot life.
5. Ensure that the application of coating is carried out as per the technical data-sheet of the manufacturer and approved painting specification.
6. Ensure that proper time intervals between intermediate coats for proper chemical and mechanical bonding.
7. Witness / checking of Dry Film Thickness and Holiday detection / Pin hole detection’s and Ensure that calibrated testing equipment is used.
8. Monitor surface preparation, application of bonding agent, elastomer, wrapping and curing operation (for Neoprene coating) on riser pipes / clamps.
9. Witness post curing tests such as hardness, spark test, sound test, adhesion test, visual and dimensional check etc. on riser pipes / clamps.
10. Monitor surface preparation, application of CTE coating and post curing tests on pipeline.
11. Monitor surface preparation, application of heat shrink sleeves, holiday tests on field joints.
12. Monitor surface preparation, wrapping (Servi wrap M 30 B), holiday detection and doping on offshore pipeline.
    1. Technical Expertise

1. Strong knowledge of the International Codes & Standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, ASTM and BS.
2. Experience with Painting / Coating Inspection according to relevant Codes.
3. Application of Codes and standards, project specifications and procedures.
4. Within his field of competency, the inspector is expected to conduct the activities stated in Primary functions.
5. Fully conversant with relevant inspection techniques and able to select the most appropriate inspection technique.
6. Able to verify and approve Non-conformities / corrective actions
7. Able to identify required Bureau Veritas interventions, based on a pre-defined Quality Plan and according to specified standards.
8. Able to review / appraise inspection procedures

1. Report to Team leader about day-to-day inspection, non-compliance /discrepancy to specification.

2. Ensure that inspection is carried out as per approved drawings / Inspection test plans.

1. Ensure that Inspection is carried out as per Purchase order / approved drawings / Inspection test plans and other applicable Technical specifications.
2. Maintain regular job related contact with clients and Liaises with client and/or Project Management Consultant with ease
3. Understand client needs and work to achieve successful project outcomes.
4. Develop trust and open communication with the client
   1. HSE Requirements

1. Comply at all times with all applicable legal requirements, BV Abu Dhabi HSE Policies and procedures, client’s HSE procedures and code of practices.
2. Maintain personal work areas tidy and hazard free and report any deviation/fault/hazard immediately to the location manager/line manager/supervisor
3. Report immediately any newly identified hazard and participate in devising suitable operational control to eliminate/minimize the pertinent risk.
4. Report immediately any HSE incident and cooperate in investigation
5. Use appropriate PPE at work area and be aware of:
   1. the risks appropriate PPE will control or minimize
   2. Report immediately incase the PPE is worn off or lost.
6. Communicate to their immediate manager any unsafe work practice or condition and opportunities for improvement of HSE practices.
7. Take care of your own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do (or do not do). ·
8. Co-operate with others on health and safety, and not interfere with, or misuse, anything provided for your health, safety or welfare.
