De functie

De Manager, Teeltprestaties & Systemen is verantwoordelijk voor het leiden en optimaliseren van kweekprestaties door middel van data, technologie, systemen en gedisciplineerde operationele uitvoering. Deze rol zorgt ervoor dat kweekactiviteiten worden beheerd als een gecontroleerd en meetbaar productieproces, waarbij beslissingen worden gebaseerd op dashboards, KPI’s, systeemprestaties, procesnaleving, gewasobservaties en root-cause analyse.


Wat ga je doen

Kweekleiderschap & uitvoering

  • Leiding geven aan en coördineren van kweekactiviteiten in lijn met productieplanning en strategie
  • Beheren van kweek als een gecontroleerd productieproces ondersteund door data en systemen
  • Balans houden tussen data-analyse en aanwezigheid in de kas
  • Beslissingen nemen op basis van trends, data en analyse
  • Realiseren van doelstellingen zoals opbrengst per m², consistentie, kwaliteit en compliance
  • Verbeteren van voorspelbaarheid en verminderen van variaties
  • Vertalen van strategie naar dagelijkse uitvoering

Data, systemen & prestatiemanagement

  • Gebruik maken van dashboards, KPI’s en ERP-systemen om prestaties te monitoren en verbeteren
  • Ontwikkelen en verbeteren van KPI-rapportages
  • Bewaken van datakwaliteit, forecasting en systeemgebruik
  • Werken met systemen zoals ACM, SAP, Business Central

The Opportunity 

The Manager, Cultivation Performance & Systems is responsible for leading and optimizing cultivation performance through data, technology, systems, and disciplined operational execution. This role ensures that cultivation activities are managed as a controlled and measurable production process, where decisions are based on dashboards, KPIs, system performance, process adherence, crop observations, and root-cause analysis. The Manager, Cultivation Performance & Systems combines horticultural expertise with strong analytical capability, operational leadership, and continuous improvement. The role plays a key part in creating predictable, repeatable, and scalable cultivation outcomes by translating crop strategy into clear processes, SOPs, performance targets, and team execution. Success is achieved not through intuition alone, but through process control, data-driven decision-making, and strong collaboration across Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Commercial, and supporting functions.


What You’ll Do 

Cultivation Leadership & Execution

  • Lead and coordinate cultivation activities in line with production planning, crop strategy, quality standards, and businessobjectives.
  • Manage cultivation as a controlled production process supported by data, systems, and disciplined execution.
  • Balance time between reviewing dashboards, KPIs, system performance, process adherence, and walking the crop.
  • Ensure cultivation decisions are based on data, trends, root-cause analysis, crop performance, and operational facts.
  • Deliver cultivation targets related to yield per m², yield consistency, potency, terpene performance, microbial compliance, and crop quality.
  • Create operational stability by improving predictability, reducing variation, and strengthening process control.
  • Translate cultivation strategy into practical daily and weekly execution for teams.

Data, Systems & Performance Management

  • Use cultivation dashboards, reports, KPIs, ERP systems, and environmental control systems tomonitorand improve performance.
  • Develop, review, and improve KPI reporting related to crop performance, operational excellence, data quality, forecasting, and system adoption.
  • Monitor data accuracy, reporting timeliness, forecast accuracy, dashboardutilization, and system adoption rates.
  • Ensure correct and consistent use of ERP systems such as ACM, SAP, Business Central, or equivalent.
  • Work with environmental control systems such as Ridder, Priva, Hoogendoorn, Source.ag, or equivalent systems.
  • Use data toidentifyperformance gaps, deviations, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Create visibility through structured reporting, dashboards, KPI reviews, and performance discussions.

Process Control, SOPs & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop, implement, and improve SOPs, work instructions, and process standards for cultivation activities.
  • Ensure cultivation teams consistently execute established processes and SOPs.
  • Build repeatable and predictable processes that reduce dependency on individual intuition or informal ways of working.
  • Identifybottlenecks, inefficiencies, process deviations, and root causes of inconsistent performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, consistency, traceability, and operational efficiency.
  • Support process mapping and standardization of cultivation workflows.
  • Challenge assumptions and promote fact-based problem-solving.

Quality, Compliance & Traceability

  • Maintainhigh standardsfor documentation, traceability, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure cultivation records,batchinformation, process data, and crop documentation areaccurate, complete, and available.
  • Collaborate closely with Quality and Compliance on audits, findings, deviations, CAPAs, and improvement actions.
  • Monitor microbial compliance rate and support corrective actions where needed.
  • Ensure full alignment with internal SOPs, quality requirements, regulatory expectations, and traceability standards.
  • Create a culture where documentation, compliance, and process discipline are seen as part of operational excellence.

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop cultivation teams using measurable targets, data, and performance metrics.
  • Build a culture of accountability, ownership, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Coach growers, supervisors, and team leads to understand and use data in daily decision-making.
  • Ensure clear roles, responsibilities, routines, and performance expectations.
  • Support onboarding, training, and capability development related to SOPs, systems, dashboards, cultivation standards, and performance management.
  • Act as a visible, approachable, and structured leader across the cultivation operation.
  • Develop teams that consistently execute established processes and contribute to stable, high-quality outcomes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Technology Adoption

  • Collaborate effectively with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Commercial, Planning, and other supporting departments.
  • Work with Maintenance and Facilities to ensure system performance, equipment reliability, and climate control stability.
  • Supportadoptionof new cultivation technologies, data systems, dashboards, automation, and improved ways of working.
  • Translate technical insights into practical actions for cultivation teams.
  • Support forecasting and production planning by combining crop knowledge, operational data, and business requirements.
  • Stay informed about developments in autonomous growing, crop steering, plant empowerment, environmental control systems, and cultivation technology.


OTHER DUTIES

Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned. Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Leli Holland, a subsidiary of Village Farms International, Inc. from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when performing work duties that may have the potential of risk to your health or safety. The Company will provide the required PPE. Employees will be trained in the proper use and care of any assigned PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly to your Supervisor.

  • This position operates in a professional office environment as well as a cultivation environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Some heavy lifting may be required.
  • Bending and stretching will be required.


What You Bring

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Plant Sciences, Controlled Environment Agriculture, Data Analytics, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in cultivation, greenhouse operations, indoor growing, controlled environment agriculture, or a comparable production environment.
  • Experience working with environmental control systems such as Ridder, Priva, Hoogendoorn, Source.ag, or equivalent.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as ACM, SAP, Business Central, or equivalent.
  • Experience developing dashboards, KPI reports, SOPs, work instructions, or structured performance reviews.
  • Proven leadership experience managing cultivation, production, or operational teams, preferably teams of 10+ people.
  • Experience working in SOP-driven, regulated, audited, or compliance-sensitive environments.
  • Experience with forecasting, production planning, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of cultivation performance, crop steering, environmental control, irrigation strategy, plant development, and operational execution.
  • Strong ability to explain cultivation decisions using data, metrics, dashboards, and trends.
