Technical Expert, Mine Operations - Development Services Expert
About this role
Reporting to the Manager of Development for GBC and KL Mines - The Development Services Technical Expert role is critical to ensure the efficient, reliable, and forward-planned delivery of underground services required to support ongoing and future mining operations. This position is responsible for planning, designing, and coordinating the provision of key infrastructure including water supply, compressed air, electrical systems, and ventilation networks. Through accurate mapping of existing services, detailed calculation of current and future demand requirements, and optimization of service routing, the role will minimize operational disruptions, reduce unplanned downtime, and ensure that development and production activities are consistently supported by adequate and fit-for-purpose infrastructure. The Technical Expert role requires not only technical expertise, but also the ability to transfer knowledge to others within the organization in a multicultural environment. This position involves gaining a comprehensive understanding of the Indonesian and Papuan culture, as well as building relationships, solving problems creatively as a team, and effectively communicating in different styles. The Technical Expert must also have a continuous learning mindset, be patient, adaptable, and able to work in an environment where work and personal life mix. Additionally, a strong sense of collaboration, mentoring, coaching, questioning, and influencing skills are essential for success in this role.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Directly communicate and implement the company’s safety, health and environmental policies and procedures, including: conducting safety meetings to promote subordinate’s awareness of safety and environmental issues.
2. Work with national staff to help them learn how to coordinate all activities including: service and infrastructure planning, installation of temporary and permanent services, develop “industry best practices’ for service installations throughout the mines.
3. Communicate with national staff to ensure that they are aware of safety, production equipment performance and the affected operational costs.
4. Assist with the implementation and application of advanced technology to improve the operational processes.
5. Ensure that communication and information linking the various projects that constitute the development of a new mine is passed on to all the relevant stakeholders to minimize disruptions that impact on mine schedules.
6. Assist the Mines to establish and maintain relationships with major internal and external departments to keep and ensure a good safety record, achieve development targets, optimize equipment utilization and identify potential for improvement within the organization.
7. Assist to train, mentor, monitor, motivate, and appraise performance and potential capabilities of subordinates to contribute to the development of a professional team.
8. Help develop the local national miners to the level required for them to become competent and confident in their ability to handle their assigned tasks.
Qualifications
- Ten (10) years of proven underground mining experience in an operational environment, to be able to understand and manage the whole mining process of development areas, experience in installation and design of mine infrastructure and services.
- Fluent in English (oral and written) and willing to learn Bahasa.
- Concern for Safety and Environment - An underlying drive to create a safe working environment and prevent accidents in the surrounding environment.
