POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Construction Manager 3 (SCM3) is a strategic craft leader responsible for full-scope field execution on complex, high-value utility construction projects. This role typically oversees projects or portfolios valued between $3M–$30M and manages multiple field leaders, including construction managers and general foremen.

SCM3’s are accountable for delivering safe, high-quality, and cost-effective execution by integrating planning, resource coordination, and workforce leadership. Operating in close partnership with project managers and internal stakeholders, SCM3’s drive both day-to-day field execution and long-range construction strategy across diverse scopes and disciplines.

Core Responsibilities

Integrated Field Execution Oversight

  • Provide leadership across all assigned construction scopes, including direct oversight of CM-level personnel, superintendents, subcontractors, and internal crews.
  • Own strategic daily/weekly execution deliverables and ensure task alignment with broader project targets.
  • Proactively address field-level risks, roadblocks, and resource gaps to protect delivery outcomes.

Workforce & Resource Coordination

  • Lead project craft planning across multiple teams and scopes, ensuring optimized labor deployment and site logistics.
  • Ensure site resourcing of tools, equipment, and materials to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Monitor crew utilization and workface planning to align with productivity and earned value targets.

Safety & Quality Management

  • Champion safety leadership by embedding SQP expectations across crews and foremen.
  • Oversee site audits, incident response, hazard mitigation, and safety stand-downs where required.
  • Uphold quality execution through coordination of ITPs, installation verification, redlines, and documentation closure.

Schedule & Progress Integration

  • Translate project schedule into actionable field lookaheads and milestone tracking frameworks.
  • Facilitate coordination between field, QA/QC, engineering, and procurement to ensure construction readiness.
  • Support integration of earned value and production tracking into site-level reporting.

Client Interface & Field Representation

  • Represent construction performance in client meetings, walkthroughs, and milestone updates.
  • Lead daily and weekly field coordination meetings and contribute to recovery strategies as needed.
  • Build client trust through visibility, execution integrity, and clear communication.

Team Leadership & Communication

  • Provide performance coaching and mentorship to construction managers, general foremen, and other site-level leaders. Foster accountability, planning discipline, and skill development across the broader field delivery team.
  • Ensure alignment across multiple field teams and support leadership growth in emerging talent.
  • Foster a culture of planning discipline, execution accountability, and safety-first thinking.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • 12–15 years of progressive experience in utility or infrastructure construction, with demonstrated leadership on complex multi-discipline scopes
  • Proven transition from field supervision to integrated project craft leadership.
  • Strong understanding of project execution, craft planning, subcontractor integration, and field resource management.
  • Proficiency with construction productivity metrics, earned value tracking, and basic commercial awareness.
  • Advanced experience with project tools such as Procore, SAP, Primavera or MS Project, and field documentation systems.
  • Diploma or degree in construction, engineering technology, or related field preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel or work at remote/active project sites.

The range shown is the expected base pay range for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on role requirements, experience, qualifications, work location, applicable project/site requirements, internal equity, and any applicable collective agreement or union requirements.

This range does not include overtime, premiums, per diem / LOA, bonuses, benefits, or other forms of compensation unless specifically stated in the job posting.

$68$74 USD
