Join the HSE Team on a Major Transmission Construction Project
We are seeking a Project HSE Advisor to support a large-scale overhead transmission construction project near North Platte and Stapleton, Nebraska.
Reporting to the Project Health & Safety Manager, the HSE Advisor will work directly with Operations, field supervision, crews and subcontractors to support safe execution across active construction work fronts.
This is a hands-on, field-based safety role. The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time in the field engaging with crews, identifying hazards, supporting work planning and reinforcing project safety expectations.
Experience in transmission, distribution, substation, utility, heavy civil or other high-risk construction environments is strongly preferred. Previous experience as a Journeyman Lineman or Apprentice Lineman is considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities
Field Safety & Compliance
- Demonstrate and reinforce our core value of WE WORK SAFE in all daily activities.
- Maintain a strong field presence across assigned crews and work fronts.
- Provide practical safety guidance to employees, foremen and supervisors regarding safe work execution.
- Support hazard assessments, workplace inspections, field observations and corrective actions.
- Participate in daily planning, tailboards, toolbox talks and other field safety meetings.
- Review and support Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), pre-task plans, permits and safe work procedures.
- Support safe execution of high-risk work including excavation and trenching, lifting and rigging, work at heights, electrical hazards, LOTO and heavy-equipment operations.
- Identify changing conditions or unsafe work and work with field leadership to establish appropriate controls.
- Support implementation of client, regulatory, company and project-specific HSE requirements.
Incident Management & Reporting
- Participate in incident and near-miss investigations, root-cause analysis and corrective-action development.
- Ensure incidents, safety concerns and regulatory matters are communicated to the Project HSE Manager and Operations leadership.
- Support injury management and workers' compensation processes as required.
- Track field observations, corrective actions and HSE performance measures.
- Prepare safety documentation, lessons learned and project reporting as required.
Training & Field Engagement
- Support project orientations, HSE training, toolbox talks and tailboard meetings.
- Coach employees and supervisors on hazard recognition and safe work practices.
- Work directly with crews to address safety concerns in real time.
- Lead by example and actively support company and client HSE initiatives.
- Build productive working relationships with employees, supervision, subcontractors and client representatives.
- Identify opportunities to continuously improve project safety performance.
What We Are Looking For
Experience & Qualifications
- 3–5 years of dedicated full-time HSE experience, preferably in construction, utility or other field-based environments.
- Transmission, distribution, substation or utility construction experience strongly preferred.
- Previous experience as a Journeyman Lineman or Apprentice Lineman considered an asset.
- Experience supporting active construction crews and working directly with foremen and supervisors.
- Experience with hazard assessments, inspections, JSAs, incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Working knowledge of applicable OSHA construction requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- BCSP certification or similar safety designation preferred.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to prepare reports, investigations, training materials and safety communications.

Work Conditions & Requirements
This is a site-based rotational position requiring candidates to:
- Work a 3 weeks on / 1 week off rotation.
- Work approximately six 10-hour days per week, with schedules adjusting as project requirements dictate.
- Travel throughout the project area and maintain a regular presence at active work fronts.
- Work outdoors in changing weather, terrain and construction conditions.
- Hold and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Successfully complete required background screening.
- Successfully complete pre-employment and project-specific drug and alcohol testing.
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
The position is eligible for $200 per day in project per diem for eligible days worked.
This is an opportunity to join the HSE team on a major transmission construction project and work directly alongside experienced construction and safety leadership. The HSE Advisor will play an important role in supporting crews, identifying and controlling field hazards, reinforcing safe work practices and contributing to successful project execution.
The range shown is the expected base pay range for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on role requirements, experience, qualifications, work location, applicable project/site requirements, internal equity, and any applicable collective agreement or union requirements.
This range does not include overtime, premiums, per diem / LOA, bonuses, benefits, or other forms of compensation unless specifically stated in the job posting.
