Labourer

POSITION SUMMARY

The Labourer will support daily operations within a yard environment by assisting with the organization, sorting, maintenance, and repair of tools, equipment, and materials. This position will help maintain an efficient and organized yard while supporting project teams with the preparation and availability of required resources.

This role is ideal for individuals who are dependable, safety-focused, organized, and comfortable performing hands-on tasks in an outdoor work environment.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Field Safety Leadership & Compliance

• Adhere to Forbes Bros Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized yard environment.
• Identify and report potential safety hazards and contribute to continuous safety improvement initiatives.

Yard Operations & Material Support

• Sort, organize, and maintain tools, materials, and equipment within the yard.
• Assist with inspecting tools and identifying items requiring repair or maintenance.
• Support basic tool repairs and preparation of equipment for field use.
• Organize and label materials to support efficient inventory management.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials as required.
• Maintain general yard cleanliness and organized work areas.
• Support project teams by ensuring tools and materials are prepared and available when required.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Work safely and contribute to safety improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with team members to support daily operational requirements.
• Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist with various tasks as needed.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Previous experience in construction, warehouse, yard operations, maintenance, or general labour is an asset.
• Experience working with tools, equipment, and construction materials is considered an asset.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Basic knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and materials.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to sort and maintain tools and materials.
• Ability to identify basic tool or equipment issues and support repair activities.
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
• Ability to work safely and recognize workplace hazards.
• Strong listening, problem-solving, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently or within a team environment with minimal supervision.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual labour, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

This position requires candidates to:

• Successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as per site/project requirements.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Support yard operations based on project and business needs.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean/acceptable driver’s abstract.
