About the Role:

As a Cook, you will play a vital role in the culinary team, responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes that meet the highest standards of quality and presentation. Your expertise in food preparation will ensure that meals are not only delicious but also safe and nutritious for our guests. You will collaborate closely with the Head Chef to develop menus and execute daily specials, contributing to a dynamic and creative kitchen environment. This position requires a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations at all times. Ultimately, your contributions will enhance the dining experience, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a Cook or in a similar role in a food service environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong knowledge of food handling and safety practices.
  • Ability to prepare meals according to recipes while maintaining quality standards.
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and tools used in meal preparation.
  • Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Passion for cooking and delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Culinary degree or certification from a recognized culinary school.
  • Experience in a high-volume kitchen setting.
  • Knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
  • Assist in menu planning and development, providing input on seasonal ingredients and specials to enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient meal service.
  • Monitor food inventory and assist in ordering supplies as needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit.
  • Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
  • Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
  • Frequently required to talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items more than 25 pounds.

Skills:

The required skills of food preparation and manual dexterity are essential for executing recipes accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Speaking and reading English fluently will facilitate effective communication with team members and ensure that safety protocols are understood and followed. The ability to stand for extended periods is crucial, as the role involves being on your feet for most of the shift while managing multiple tasks. Climbing stairs may be necessary in larger kitchen facilities, where supplies and equipment are stored on different levels. Preferred skills, such as culinary training, will enhance your ability to innovate and contribute to menu development, making you a valuable asset to the culinary team.
