SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsible for working with the production supervisor on day-to-day production activities to assist in managing a team of welders as well as set- up and TIG welding of various aluminum parts. Set up and braze/silver solder various copper parts to support production as well as fixture and tooling development.
- Lead and coordinate a team of TIG welders and brazers, providing mentorship, training, and support to ensure the achievement of production targets and quality objectives.
- Perform TIG welding and brazing operations on various materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, and copper, utilizing both AC and DC welding techniques to meet engineering specifications and project requirements.
- Conduct thorough inspections of welded joints to verify compliance with quality standards, performing visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) as necessary, and implementing corrective actions to address any defects or deficiencies.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to understand project requirements, weld joint configurations, and geometric tolerances, providing guidance to team members as needed.
- Coordinate with fabrication and machining teams to ensure proper material preparation, fit up, and alignment of workpieces prior to welding operations, addressing any fitment issues or discrepancies.
- Assist in the development and qualification of welding procedures and specifications, including conducting procedure qualification tests (PQR) and documentation in compliance with industry standards.
- Enforce safety protocols and procedures in the welding area, ensuring all team members adhere to safety regulations, utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of welding equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability, coordinating repairs or replacements as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Certification in TIG welding and brazing required, with additional certifications related to welding inspection or procedure development preferred.
- Blueprint and GD&T certification preferred
- High school diploma, GED equivalent, or Technical School.
- 10-15 years of experience as a TIG welder and brazer, with demonstrated proficiency in TIG welding and brazing techniques utilizing both AC and DC welding processes.
- Prior experience in leadership or supervisory role
- Expertise in blueprint reading and interpretation, including the ability to understand complex welding symbols, geometric dimensions, and tolerances.
- Proficient and experienced TIG Welder Brazer Lead with expertise in both AC (Alternating Current) and DC (Direct Current) welding techniques.
- Semiconductor industry or other manufacturing experience preferred.
