Job Description

 

Position Summary: The role of Supply Chain Manager for Materials provides overall leadership for all material management activities on large, complex EPC projects ranging from $500M to $4B. This role is accountable for developing and executing the material management strategies and personnel that ensure schedule certainty, cost discipline and effective risk management across all aspects of the management of the materials through the initial sourcing strategy through to field material management operations.

 

  • Develop and execute integrated Project Material Management Plans and Strategies to align and support overall EPCM Project Execution. This includes overseeing the development of detailed logistics, purchasing, expediting, material planning and field material management plans.
  • Analyze situations, identify and forecast problems, evaluate options, and implement appropriate actions and mitigations to maintain the project construction schedule.
  • Manage personnel, provide an environment for staff development and professional advancement, including training opportunities and performance feedback.
  • Support our Sales Group in the development of integrated material management strategies that align with execution, risks and market intelligence
  • Review the project scope of work and prime contract and develop modifications to standard templates and terms and conditions for final legal review
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients and suppliers and actively participate in leadership and sponsorship meetings
  • Establish and define the project staffing requirement and communicate staffing needs to office or functional management
  • Strong understanding of the engineering, design and construction process on EPC project, their sequencing, deliverables and key infaces with Supply Chain in all phases of project execution including early engagement, estimates and detailed engineering.
  • Maintain knowledge of safety policies and procedures, ensure safe work practices, and adhere to all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards.
  • May need to travel to attend to business related matters
  • Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Job Requirements

• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and fourteen (14) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to eighteen (18) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements  

• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders  

• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job  

• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines  

• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

• Is familiar with how to increase earnings and create shareholder value

• Effectively manage personnel within multi-functional, culturally and regionally diverse project team  

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Accredited degree or global equivalent
  • Experience should be primarily in the area of material management
  • Eighteen (18) years of experience in the area of material management
  • Applicable professional certification(s) or license(s)
  • Leadership experience for large complex projects or supply chain organizations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills
  • Experience in EPCM contractor and/or owner organizations an asset

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
