Job Description:

Fluence is seeking an experienced Contracting Manager to lead the negotiation, drafting, execution, and administration of contracts with customers and suppliers. This role focuses on complex energy storage system agreements, long-term service agreements, and EPC/BOP supplier contracts. The Contracting Manager is responsible for developing and implementing negotiation strategies, leading contract discussions, securing internal stakeholder alignment, and ensuring the successful closure of contracts that support Fluence’s commercial objectives and project success. The role requires a strong combination of commercial, legal, and energy industry expertise, along with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and maintain productive relationships with customers and suppliers throughout the contracting process.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage end-to-end contract negotiations with customers and

project-specific suppliers from selection through contract execution.

  • Develop and execute negotiation strategies that align with Fluence’s commer-

cial objectives, risk standards, and internal approval requirements.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for contractual discussions and coordi

nate closely with Procurement Managers, Account Managers, Legal, Finance, Engineering, Proposal, and Project Execution teams.

  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with customers and

suppliers throughout the negotiation process, ensuring effective communica

tion and issue resolution.

  • Facilitate in-person and virtual negotiations and proactively address commer

cial concerns to avoid delays and roadblocks.

  • Drive timely contract execution to support annual sales targets, order intake

goals, and project margin objectives.

  • Lead contract close activities, including final clarifications, notice-to-proceed

requirements, financial close conditions, and completion of all contractual

documentation.

  • Ensure a seamless handover of executed contracts to project delivery and op

erational teams.

  • Provide commercial and contractual support during the bid and proposal

stages, advising deal teams on risk allocation, contract structures, and com

petitive commercial terms.

  • Support the development of bankable, executable, and commercially attractive

proposals to maximize award opportunities.

  • Indirectly lead cross-functional deal teams to ensure alignment, accountability,

and successful contract outcomes.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual governance processes,

ethics standards, and safety requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6–10 years of experience in contract negotiation, commercial

management, contract administration, or deal execution within the energy, in

frastructure, or other capital-intensive industries.

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex commercial and contractual nego

tiations with utilities, developers, major equipment suppliers, EPC contractors,

or public procurement agencies.

  • Strong understanding of EPC, equipment supply, and service agreements, in

cluding commercial, legal, and technical considerations.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of contractual risk management, liability frame

works, warranties, performance guarantees, and project bankability

requirements.

  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a matrix

environment.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to maintain productive

relationships during high-stakes negotiations.

  • Ability to navigate complex approval processes and effectively collaborate

across multiple business functions.

  • Results-oriented with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and a proac

tive approach to achieving business objectives.

  • Legal contract management experience is advantageous.
  • Experience working with FIDIC-based contracts is preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical business practices, compliance stan

dards, and workplace safety.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and negotiation

skills.

Required Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Law, Engineering, Finance,

Economics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

  • Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s degree, or Juris Doctor) is considered an

advantage.

  • Professional certifications in Contract Management, Commercial

Management, Procurement, Project Management, or related disciplines are

preferred.

  • Training and experience in contract negotiation, risk management, and com

mercial strategy within the energy or infrastructure sectors.

  • Knowledge of energy storage systems, renewable energy projects, EPC con

tracting models, and long-term service agreements is highly desirable.
