Business Analyst AI & Automation - South Bank, QLD
About this role

At Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) our purpose is to 'open up the world for those who want to see'. Every day, we give people all around the world the opportunity to experience something really amazing – travel!
We're building the future of AI and automation at Flight Centre Travel Group, and we want a Senior BA who's excited to be part of it!
This isn't a traditional BA role. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with AI engineers, data scientists and automation developers, not handing off requirements over a wall, but solving problems together from day one. If you would like to help us identify where AI and automation can genuinely move the needle, frame the problem clearly, and stay close to delivery so the solution actually lands and delivers value, we encourage you to apply.
What you'll do:
- Partner with the business to find AI and automation opportunities worth pursuing
- Run joint discovery alongside engineers, process walkthroughs, current/future state, technical feasibility
- Translate ambiguous problems into clear, testable requirements
- Define what "good" looks like for AI outputs (accuracy, edge cases, human-in-the-loop) and automation outcomes (straight-through processing, exception handling)
- Stay close through build and test, available for fast clarifications
- Capture the value delivered post-deployment so we know what's working
What we're looking for:
- 2+ years experience in a Business Analyst or equivalent role, with demonstrated experience gathering and documenting requirements for digital, automation, or AI-related projects
- Genuine comfort with ambiguity and an appetite for hard problems
- Some exposure to AI, automation or data science work and curiosity to go much deeper
- Strong process analysis, documentation and communication skills
- A collaborative, iterative way of working, you don't believe in 50-page specs
Brownie points:
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
- Relevant certifications in business analysis (e.g. CBAP, IIBA)
- Additional qualifications in AI, automation, or data
What we're not looking for:
Day-one mastery of every AI platform or automation tool. We hire for mindset and trajectory, not checkboxes. If you're curious, capable and ready to learn fast, this role is for you!

Company at a glance
Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) is one of the world’s largest travel companies, employing 12,000 like-minded individuals – known as ‘Flighties’.
Our story dates to 1973, when founder Graham Turner (aka “Skroo") and friend Geoff “Spy” Lomas buy a double-decker bus and take off on their first tour around Spain, Portugal and Morrocco, 3 years later forming the first business, Top Deck. After flight deregulations in the 80s our first retail "Flight Centre" stores opened in Australia in 1982, London in 1984, and NZ in 1987.
1987 was also the year we held our first “Global Gathering” awards event celebrating our amazing people, a tradition that continues to this day.
And in 2025 we launched our very first loyalty program, World360 Rewards! Our Australian customers now able to earn and redeem points across Flight Centre, Travel Associates, and Cruiseabout.
We’re in our 40s now and a lot has changed! With global headquarters in Brisbane, Australia, our company owned leisure and corporate travel businesses span three major regions: APAC, The Americas and EMEA.
Our flagship corporate travel management brand, FCM, extends our reach even further through a network covering over 100 countries via both company-owned operations and independent licensees.
With 30 brands across our global footprint, our team spans from customer-facing to internal support roles. The opportunities just as diverse – from a Travel Consultant at Flight Centre or Envoyage, to a Machine Learning Scientist in one of our tech pillars.
Together, we live and breathe our number one philosophy, Our People, driven by our purpose ‘To open up the world for those who want to see’.
Our values are simple and powerful - Ownership, Egalitarianism and Irreverence.
