Electrical Engineer (HH)
About this role
Purpose of the position
The Server Hardware Engineer is responsible for working with the customer to develop Server/Storage Electrical specifications and design, in cooperation with the Program manager, Mechanical Engineer, Thermal Engineer, Signal Integrity Test Group, BIOS, BMC and PCB Layout teams. Other validation teams may also be involved to develop and fully test server products from early development to production phases. Must be a good team-player, capable of working across multiple function teams to ensure successful delivery of products.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with cross-functional teams (i.e. EE, BIOS, BMC, PA, SI) to Develop and deliver a successful server product to market
- Knowledge of Signal Integrity, eye diagram, transmission line and EMI in theory and in practical application
- Knowledge of Intel server MB, In-depth knowledge of x86 architecture
- Knowledge of Multi-phase VRM, high speed signal, (USB/SATA/SAS/QPI) and DDR4/DDR3 memory
- Use of Cadence OrCAD/HDL and Allegro.
- Responsible for specification, design, schematics capture, layout check, BOM generation, system-level debug and test
- Drive resolution of customer reported system issues
Education and work experience
- MS/BS EE or CE with 0-3+ years of experience
- Experience performing schematic and layout activities independently, and have experience with PCB CAD design packages – preferably Cadence
- Ability to perform basic prototype assembly, including fine pitch soldering
- Solid grasp of the concepts surrounding Design for Manufacture, and EMC mitigation methods
- A drive to creatively seek methods for optimizing electronic designs and minimizing cost
- Must be familiar with, and able to operate, a wide range of electronic test equipment
- Knowledge of IPC standards and electronics manufacturing methods desirable
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to evaluate the long term implications and consequences of potential solutions such as the impact to component life due to electrical or thermal stress
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team to contribute ideas and insights into project decisions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required for sharing ideas with other departments and the customer

- Office-based role, fast-paced work environment
- Travel - Approximately 15% including international travel. A valid passport, or no restriction to obtain one, is required
- This role may require a background check to prove engineering certification.
