As a NOC Engineer I, you’ll be on the front line of ensuring network performance, stability, and reliability for our customers. You’ll monitor real-time network activity, troubleshoot issues, and provide exceptional support that keeps our services running seamlessly. This role is perfect for someone with a solid foundation in networking, strong analytical instincts, and excellent communication skills. You’ll play a key part in diagnosing problems, driving timely resolutions, and escalating incidents to the right teams when needed.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor network performance and alarms in real time, processing alerts swiftly and accurately following established procedures.
- Create, manage, and update trouble tickets while responding promptly to calls, emails, and system notifications.
- Perform Tier I diagnostics to identify, validate, and triage issues; escalate incidents to engineering teams, carriers, or field technicians as required.
- Coordinate dispatch of field technicians and/or replacement parts based on troubleshooting outcomes.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, providing updates, guidance, and escalation details.
- Share technical feedback with Engineering teams to support continuous improvement across products, processes, and design.
- Maintain compliance with network standards, documentation, and operational procedures defined by Architecture & Engineering.
- Manage competing priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, including interactions with challenging customer situations.
- Support evolving needs as responsibilities may shift with business priorities.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1 year of NOC or transport network operations experience.
- Education in Telecommunications or related fields preferred.
- A combination of education and experience is acceptable.
- Preferred certifications: CCNA/CCNP, CE-A/CE-P, CECP, JNCIA/JNCIP.
Technical Skills
- Experience with optical and routing equipment (Fujitsu Flashwave, Ciena, MRV OptiSwitch, Juniper MX/EX, Force 10).
- Strong understanding of the OSI Model, Ethernet, routed networks, and linear/ring topologies.
- Familiarity with protocols such as MPLS, IS-IS, BGP, and OSPF.
- Ability to quickly isolate, diagnose, and escalate network issues.

- Ability to identify issues, assess risks, and recommend solutions.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and reach.
- Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English.
- Must have visual acuity.
- Must be able to lift 0-25 pounds.
