Telecom/SUE Technician
About this role
- Complete site visits including but not limited to utility locating, GIS mapping, documenting existing conditions, and manhole mapping
- Visit construction sites to monitor contractor safety and provide quality control to ensure the project is being built as specified in the plans and specifications
- Observe and document as-built conditions
- Provide office support for telecommunications and other utility projects using AutoCAD or other design software
- Occasionally travel overnight
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of relevant experience as a technician
- Great attitude, willingness to learn, and a team player.
- This position typically has work that is performed in both an office environment and in the field on construction site.
- Valid driver's license and be insurable under company insurance
- Ability to work outside in a wide variety of weather and terrain conditions
- Ability to regularly lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/ or move up to 100 pounds. This role requires lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, and other physical exertion.
- Encourages and supports a safety-oriented culture.
- Associates Degree in Pre-engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, etc. or Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
- Experience in telecommunications, fiber optic, or utility design or construction
- Experience in fiber optic, copper, or coax splicing
- Experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) locating and/or surveying
- Familiarity with utility atlases/records and/or GIS programs
- Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation or ARAMIS
