Fairview is looking for a Registered Nurse on the Birthplace Unit at our Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming, MN.
Schedule: This role is a .6 FTE (48 hours every 2 weeks) working 12-hour night shifts, with every third weekend rotation. Variable weekday schedule.

About this Unit:
The Birthplace at M Health Fairview Lakes Medical Center offers a unique opportunity to care for families across the full continuum of maternal and newborn care in a collaborative, family-centered environment. Our newly renovated unit includes 6 Labor & Delivery rooms, 9 postpartum rooms, 2 OB triage rooms, Level 1 nursery, and an operating room within the department for cesarean births.
Nurses on our unit are trained to provide care across the continuum of maternal-child health, including Labor & Delivery, postpartum and newborn care, pediatrics, OR circulating for cesarean sections, and PACU recovery following cesarean births. Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team of OB/GYN physicians, pediatric nurse practitioners, CRNAs, registered nurses, and nursing support staff, with all nurses trained in lactation support and several holding Certified Lactation Consultant credentials.

Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedure, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
- Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
- Involves the patient, family and other health team members in gathering data.
- Uses an ongoing, systematic process to gather relevant information (biological, psychological, spiritual and social aspects) from patient and family.
- Analyzes data and information to identify potential risks, prioritize needs and determine priority problems.
- Identifies & documents outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
- Develops an individualized nursing plan of care.
- Prioritizes & implements interventions based on patient acuity, available resources, and patient/family preferences and needs.
- Collaborates, consults, or makes referrals if unable to perform safely and independently.
- Anticipates, recognizes and responds to emergent situations.
- Promotes a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP) & presents EBP findings to peers
- Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
Required Qualifications:
- MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
- 1 year of RN Labor & Delivery experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing
- Med/Surg experience
