Hours: 80 hours bi-weekly

This position is considered hybrid with 4 days being remote and 1 day being in office!

 

As the Prescription Assistance Specialist, you will serve as a pharmacy advocate for patients on behalf of the clinicians prescribing medication. Primary focus will be coordinating financial access to take home medications. Work as part of a high-performing, interdisciplinary team of nurses, physicians, and other health care providers in a rewarding, fast-paced work environment in an academic/clinic setting. This is a unique position allowing a pharmacy technician to utilize/develop pharmacy and leadership skills. 

Responsibilities

  • Educating patients on their insurance prescription benefits and identifying patient assistance programs, grants and other financial assistance opportunities. Communicating expectations, timing, and process capably to patients, caregivers, and clinics.
  • Expediting patient access to medications by identifying and resolving barriers on behalf of clinic care teams, including: submitting and following patient assistance programs, supporting providers by assisting with grants, coordinating fulfillment of orders with dispensing pharmacies, and assisting patients in being able to financially afford their medications. Advising patients on their financial assistance options and identifying saving opportunities. Acting as an advocate for Fairview retail and mail order pharmacies. Partner with multiple specialties and clinics Develop expertise in each manufacturer patient assistance program to act as a subject matter expert for the team, clinic, and our partners in access services. Establishing relationships with industry representatives and reimbursement managers to maintain current knowledge of available financial assistance programs.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served: Partners with patient care giver in care/decision making. Communicates in a respective manner. Ensure a safe, secure environment. Individualizes plan of care to meet patient needs. Modifies clinical interventions based on population served. Provides patient education based on as assessment of learning needs of patient/care giver. Fulfill all organizational requirements: Completes all required learning relevant to the role. Complies with and maintains knowledge of all relevant laws, regulation, policies, procedures and standards. Fosters a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2 years experience in complex office support/coordinator/advocate role, preferably pharmacy-related
  • Excellent customer service and ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear, concise, accurate and considerate manner
  • Ability to assess and clarify changing priorities
  • Proven ability to problem-solve effectively
  • 1 year Pharmacy technician experience
  • MN Pharmacy License Registered as Pharmacy Technician with the MN State Board of Pharmacy. If Minnesota Board of Pharmacy registration on or after 1/1/2013, must have a certificate of completion from a MNBOP approved employer based or vocational/technical training program

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in Epic and Enterprise Rx application
