This is an on-site position supporting our 3 Kansas Locations; Mission Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital, Overland Park Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital, and Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital

We’re searching for a committed, experienced Human Resources Manager to join our dynamic team supporting our 24-hour emergency and specialty hospitals across Kansas. In this role, you’ll be an integral partner to hospital leadership and team members, helping foster a positive workplace culture, support our people, and ensure effective HR practices across our hospitals—all while contributing to an organization dedicated to delivering superior veterinary care with compassion.

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will:

  • Partner with Hospital Leadership and the People Team to strengthen employee engagement, workplace culture, and the overall employee experience.
  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees and leaders, providing guidance on employee relations, policy interpretation, performance concerns, and day-to-day HR matters.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and support disciplinary matters while ensuring policies and procedures are applied consistently and appropriately.
  • Help maintain compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations, as well as hospital and company policies.
  • Communicate hospital policies, procedures, and updates to employees and leaders, helping ensure hospital standards are understood and maintained.
  • Work collaboratively with HR Centers of Excellence, including Leave of Absence, Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Total Rewards, and Learning & Development, to support hospital and employee needs.
  • Lead and support performance management, onboarding, and offboarding processes in alignment with our company culture and expectations.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership on labor management and wage analysis to support staffing and workforce needs.
  • Partner with Learning & Development to identify and provide educational and development opportunities for current and emerging leaders.
  • Support staff and managers on day-to-day issues.
  • Support recruiting efforts and events to help attract and engage talent for the hospital.
  • Collaborate with the NVA People Team on organization-wide initiatives and change management efforts.
  • Develop and deliver presentations, employee communications, and HR resources as needed to keep teams informed and engaged.

What You Bring:

  • 5–7 years of HR experience, including proven experience as a Field HR Manager or in a similar role.
  • The ability to travel frequently between multiple Kansas locations on a frequent basis including occasional travel within the U.S. for a variety of company wide meetings.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • A self-motivated, organized approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to going the extra mile for employees, leaders, and partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll and Human Resources systems preferred.
  • Previous experience or familiarity with the animal health or medical field is preferred.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as a positive, supportive, and encouraging team member within a veterinary hospital environment.
  • The ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time and perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
