Animal Care Attendant | CA$18.00–CA$23.00/hour + $2/hour overnight stipend
Location: Mississauga, ON
Schedule: Full-Time | Three 12-hour shifts including days, overnights, and every other weekend
Compensation: CA$18.00–CA$23.00/hour + overtime when applicable


Veterinary Emergency & Referral Hospital of West Toronto is hiring a full-time Animal Care Attendant (ACA) in Mississauga, ON. This is an opportunity to build your veterinary hospital experience while working alongside Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) and emergency veterinarians in a 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital.
Compensation
  • CA$18.00–CA$23.00/hour

Schedule
  • Full-time; Three 12-hour shifts
  • Days and overnights, every other weekend
  • Holiday availability required
  • Schedules planned approximately one month in advance
Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians and Registered Veterinary Technicians with hands-on patient care
  • Support patients independently and as part of the veterinary care team
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming animal hospital environment
  • Communicate with clients and provide updates, support, and reassurance during stressful situations
  • Assist with billing, payments, and light administrative responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with the emergency and specialty team to support efficient patient care
  • Adapt to changing priorities and patient needs in a fast-paced emergency veterinary environment
Qualifications
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year of veterinary hospital experience
  • Comfortable working 12-hour shifts, including days, overnights, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong client communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work effectively with different personalities and adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Genuine interest in supporting pets, clients, and the veterinary care team
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
